Stage-Door Elphies...Behind the Green Makeup

I was just wondering about your experiences meeting the cast after the shows-mainly the Glinda's and Elphabas. From the youtube videos people put up, I've determined that

1. Stephanie J Block is beyond cute and really loves her fans, and

2. Idina is very kind if a little shy.

But I've heard so many different things, that I just wanted to ask you guys who've actually met the people what your impressions were. So, what did you guys think of the Elphies and Glindas you've met?

Helen Dallimore is beyond lovely! When I went to the stage door, she was already in a rush but she came back to sign my programme for me after I dashed across the street to buy a marker pen that worked! Embarassed

From my experiences, Idina gets pretty overwhelmed by the large groups of fans that she draws. She still stayed and signed everyones playbills, though. Kristin Chenoweth is very sweet, though she couldn't stay out very long because of the cold. Shoshana Bean is beyond adorable- she couldn't believe it when my friend and I told he that we loved her on the Godspell 2000 cast recording. Megan Hilty was also very sweet. In fact, most of the Elphabas/Glindas I've met were very gracious and nice.

Kerry Ellis is one of the most down to earth people i have met and also has a "wicked" sense of humour.

Wicked Stage Door

I saw Wicked in Baltimore about a week and a half ago, and stood at the stage door-and everyone was as nice as could be-and it was bitter cold out! We had all the leads sign our playbills and programs. Victoria Matlock, the current Elphaba, is an absolute sweetheart. She seemed genuinely surprised that we had all waited for her in that weather. Clifton and Deedee Hall are very nice as well-and their little boy is SO CUTE!

All in all, I had a great experience at the stage door!

I can second Victoria being completely sweet and wonderful. I've met her twice, the first time being in the pouring rain of Boston. My friend and I were two of about 6 people there and she waited around and talking to all of us under our umbrellas, etc. Kendra Kassebaum, the same time, was also very lovely to chat to. She thought she knew me, which probably explained why she was looking at me through so much of the performance...

The second time I stage doored in Providence Victoria was just as nice as before. She couldn't believe that I'd seen her in Boston, or that I'd driven an hour to Providence to lotto for the show.

Christina DeCicco was also great, and so cute and hilarious. She had a friend waiting at the stage door for her, and as soon as she came out and saw her, Christina raced over, did the exact little Galinda hop we had all just seen her do for 3 hours in the show, and hugged the woman. It was one of those hilarious moments where all of the fans watching her were just shaking their heads and going, she IS G(a)linda...

And a bit off topic, but PJ as the wizard was so awesome at the stage door. He was just leaving after signing some playbills off to the side so I ran up to him with my Grimmerie and asked him to sign, and told him how wonderufl he was, etc. He talked to me about seeing the show before (I completely forgot to mention that I had seen HIM in the show before...whoops) and all. I think he was incredible amused at how star-struck I was....
