Hi everyone, I'm auditioning in a few weeks for Seussical, and I really want a shot at either Gertrude or Mayzie. I'm more suited for Gertrude (tall, skinny, awkward, comic actress, and my voice is similar), but I'm afraid they may want to cast someone overweight in that part like this particular company did two years ago, so I thought I should try for Mayzie as well. Anyway, here's the songs I'm considering doing...which ones do you think will serve both well? I don't want to do one too
Mayzie-ish and let myself out of the Gertrude role, but at the same time I want to show that I can do the strong stuff, too. I'm also open to other suggestions, these are just some of my standards that suit my range well.

"I'm Not" from "Little By Little"
"The Life of the Party" from "The Wild Party"
"Shy" from "Once Upon a Mattress"

What do y'all think?

Shy seems great, because its belty, but not to high belty, and comical, light and whimsical..

I'm Not is perfect for Gertrude and not overdone. Shy could work for both characters but I still think I'm Not would be a better choice. Just my opinion! Whatever you choose is fine. Break a leg!

So I went with "I'm Not," and I got called back for Mayzie, hee hee! I guess I'm happy with that, I can have fun with it. Wish me luck, callbacks are Tuesday!
