Sondheim's funniest song?Well? What do you think? For me, tossup. "A Little Priest" and "The Boy From..." tie for that slot.

"A Little Priest," defintely
I also like the original entry song for Miles Gloriosus in Forum -- "There's Something About a War."

A Little Priest definately. I also think Chrysanthemum Tea and Please, Hello from PO are very funny in their own twisted way. The latter is naturally so much else than funny, also.

I am surprised someone put "dirty old man" IMO its sondheims weakest song.

I haven't listened to much sondheim, (Yeah, yeah, I just got back into musicals after a long break, and recently discovered Sondheim.)

There's one from The Frogs - the opening song with all of the rules of the theatre. It's name escapes me, but I love it!
"And if by a sudden miracle a tune should appear that lyrical, please don't hum along."
"Please, don't fart - there's very little air and this is art!"

I'll add another vote for "A Little Priest".
I also would like to toss in mention of "How Will I Know?". I realize it isn't laugh out loud funny, but it always makes me chuckle and smile.

reI'll second Bring Me my Bride as his funniest.

One of the great comedy numbers in the Sondheim repretoire.

The topic is Sondheim's funniest song, not greatest.

I absolutely love Getting Married Today..."Bless this Bride...totally insane", especially when the amazing Madeline Kahn performs it. Her death was such a tragedy.
Alvin Ing does a terrific Chrysanthemum Tea, especially in the Original Broadway Cast. Don't get me wrong, the revival isn't terrible, but I think his performance just isn't as strong (still great though).
Agony is of course a staple. In my opinion, the reprise is the better version though. Of course this is only Original Broadway Cast. I don't want to think of any other recording of Into the Woods.
You Must Meet My Wife is one of my favorite songs from A Little Night Music. The lyrics are amazing. Len Cariou and Glyn Johns are amazing singing them. Simply an amazing song. I find A Glamorous Life to be an even better song though, and just as funny.
And of course....A Little Priest. Absolutely f'ning brilliant. "Priest" was the song that first got me into Sweeney Todd, and still remains my favorite. Priest is one of those songs that just doesn't grow old, no matter how much you listen to it.
And in response to the mention of Invocations and Instruction to the Audience....I like the song quite a bit, but the fact that Sondheim used a fart joke bothered me. I always thought that his humor was above them.

I think it's a given, A Little Priest basically rocks the world. Nobody can pun like Sondheim.
And of his funny songs, it's one of the least bittersweet. Not Getting Married Today (Company) is funny but sad. Same with Please, Hello from PO, and Agony, and Sunday in the Park with George, and America from WSS.
I love Invocation, The Frogs, They Do an Awful Lot of Dancing (original version of the show), Travel, and the Boatman's Song from the Frogs. That show has a ton of hilarious songs.
Officer Krupke.
The Day Off from Sunday in the Park is REALLY HILARIOUS with the voices done right.
But Little Priest wins.

I do love "Gee, Officer Krupke." I love "we are sick! We are sick! We are sick sick sick!" Cracks me up every time.
But A Little Priest, You Must Meet My Wife are great. I must say, though, what wins for me is Fredrika's "Ordinary mothers lead ordinary lives, something something, something something, cook the meals - and look exhaused - ordinary mothers -"

I'd have to say A Little Priest and You Must Meet My Wife. And, even though he only wrote the lyrics for it... Gee, Officer Krupke! is great, too.

Votes for Bring Me My Bride, Everybody Ought to Have a Maid (Lovely is hysterium, er, hysterical with the right Hysterium); Not Getting Married is the very first one I thought of; and Officer Krupke (we're down on our knees, and no one wants a fella with a social disease...)

Agree with all those already listed (especially A Little Priest and You Must Meet My Wife), but I'd add the following:
"The Woman Was Perfection (It Would Have Been Wonderful)" from ALNM
"I never do anything twice" from the 7% Solution
"If Momma Was Married" from Gypsy
"There's Always A Woman" from Anyone Can Whistle

I agree with everybody here who thinks "A Little Priest" is a darn funny song. But my personal favorite funny Sondheim song will always be "You Must Meet My Wife" from ALNM.

It's funny at first but always breaks my heart at the end. Which is why I love it so.

"A Little Priest" - Sweeney Todd - The song that made me fall in love with Sondheim's lyrics, from the show that made me fall in love with Sondheim.
"Agony" and "Agony (reprise)" - Into the Woods - Words cannot express its hilarity. "Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah AGONYYY! much more painful than yours!"
"Your Fault" - Into the Woods - chilling, yes, but funny nonetheless. Maybe it's the irony in the fact that they've all begun to act like children tossing the blame around, maybe (probably) it's Sondheim's brilliant lyrics coupled with the rhythm of the melody (I adore when Little Red seems to be having difficulty following along with who now holds the blame. All in all, I couldn't help chuckling when I first heard it.
The entirety of A Funny THing Happened on the Way to the Forum - the title of the show says it all
"It's Hot Up Here" - Sunday in the Park with George - "This is not my good profile!"..."At least you HAVE a profile!"
"Gotta Get a Gimmick" - Gypsy - it's called comic relief for a reason
