SON TRYING OUT FOR FIDDLER, WHAT PART???

MY SON IS 17 AND TRYINGOUT FOR FIDDLER FOR HIS HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. HE IS A JUNIOR AND A TENOR. WHAT PART DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD TRY OUT FOR???
DaddyDiesel

Why are you shouting? J/K Umm I would say motel, perchik, or fyedka. They are all three are either bari/tenor or tenor roles.

sorry didn't mean to write in all in caps... Crying or Very sad

I would say...
Motel- Tzeitel's husband...He is the biggest male part (Besides for Tevye). He is shy at first, and sort of like a boy, but as time passes he becomes more mature and tough, like a man. (Sings in Tradition, Sabbath Prayer, Sunrise Sunset, Miracle Of Miracles, Anatevka)
Perchik- A new student from Kiev. He becomes Hodel's husband. He is not shy at all, He has a quick and a witty tongue. He later moves to Siberia. (Sings in Tradition, Sabbath Prayer, Sunrise Sunset)
Fyedka- A Russian. He likes Chava very much and tries to flirt with her, He later becomes her husband. (I'm not sure if he sings, Sometimes, Depending on the Director he may sing in Tradition and Sabbath Prayer).
Fiddler- Although the Fiddler does not talk or sing throughout the whole play, I think he is the most important character in the show. He symbolizes the Jews, and He is in most of the show, Just in the Backround.

Those mentioned...

And our directors seemed to have a very limited supply of people for the Russian soloist (in the "To Life" scene), so if he can get those notes, he should consider that.

You should look at the Fiddler on the Roof page on StageAgent to read & learn about each character: http://stageagent.com/Shows/View/730 .

(This isn't meant to sound mean)

Did you just join to plug for Stageagent? All your posts are about it, and aren't very conversational like. Joining just to advertise is really frowned upon here, and you might want to make some musical-related posts before you're blue-carded.

I've actually just found it to be a really useful site (along with this site of course). But it's not at all why I joined.

I was totally going to post a picture of Mama Rose as a joke. Laughing

Thank you for all of your advise. He should know by this weekend what part he gets. He stated last night the he would like either Perchik or Motel. He can hit those notes in the Russian solo so hopefully he will get a part where he can showcase his voice. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Not voluntarily, though: he is exiled there after his arrest in Kiev. He may stand just barely onstage in a spotlight while Hodel sings "Far From The Home I Love".

He is also principled, refusing to do the Tsar's dirty work (carrying out the eviction order), and respected among his fellow young Russians. He shooed away Sasha and several others who were bothering Chava.

Good for him! Perchik is a great role. Probably my favorite of the three suitors. Very Happy
