Some Enchanted Evening

One of the local theatre groups where I live is having their 25th Anniversary concert using songs from all their previous shows.

I've been asked to sing "Some Enchanted Evening", but I don't know much about the show. I know the song but not so much the context and how it should be sung.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hmm well how about this, the song sung before Some Enchanted Evening

Twin Soliloquies (Wonder How It Feels)
Nellie:
Wonder how I'd feel
Livin' on a hillside,
Lookin' on an ocean,
Beautiful and still.

Emile:
This is what I need,
This is what I've longed for.
Someone young and smilin'
Climbin' up my hill!

Nellie:
We are not alike.
Probably I'd bore him.
He's a cultured Frenchman,
I'm a little hick.

Emile:
Younger man than I,
Officers and doctors.
Probably pursue her,
She could have her pick.

Nellie:
Wonder why I feel
Jittery and jumpy!
I'm like a school girl
Waitin' for a dance.

Emile:
Can I ask her now?
I'm like a school boy!
What will be her answer?
Do I have a chance?

You could say Some Enchanted Evening is about love at first sight and leaving your fears and doubts behind. Emile is proclaiming that he loves Nellie and he knows if he does not try he will be alone.
