Solo, Duet, and Trio advice needed!Hi There!2 Friends and I are doing a gospel brunch in a couple of months and are looking for some song ideas. We can have solos, duets, and trios. I am a mezzo, one friend is a tenor, and the other is a baritone. We are looking for inspirational songs from musical theater. We will probably do a couple gospel songs, but we are musical theater performers and would like to sing something more in our genre. Thank you so much for your help! - Daniella |

Ah so like gospel MT songs? How about...
Check out Hammerstein's version of Carmen Jones. The Wiz also has good stuff that might be suitable. Dreamgirls is probably too obvious a choice, Also have a look at Ain't Misbehavin. Stuff from Smokey Joe's Cafe as well...Porgy and Bess and Showboat are probably a bit too classic MT. |

Look at music similar to the stuff in Sister Act or any music that can be adapted to feel more gospel |

Look at Big River. It has "Waitin' for the Light to Shine," "Crossin' to the Other Side," "Free at Last," or maybe something else that you might want to do. |

I think you guys may have misunderstood Songbird. I think she said she was looking for inspirational songs from MT to sing instead of gospel songs.
Songbird, if that's what you're looking for, please look at http://www.musicals.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65187 for a similar kind of thread. |
