So scared and unprepared for my auditionI am so scared for my audition for oliver. I don't have stage fright or anything but when it comes to auditions I get so nervous. And I have absouletly no idea what song to sing. I am about a Soprano, I am a girl who is stumped . It's a school play and I am not scared on the acting part because I know that I will get in if it was just acting but...... the director (he is my drama teacher and is totally the best) of the play wants songs in the musical theatre genre.I am up for any song.SO, WHAT SONG SHOULD I SING! HELP!
I was previously in the play Harvey

CALM DOWN!!!
these are tips for you to think about when you find a song/compilation book:
1) what role are you going for?
2) how old are you in relation to the rest of the cast/auditionees?
3) What range is your strongest? Most female roles in the show don't need perfect thin fold voices. can you belt? can you make a good transition from thin/thick fold to thick/thin fold?
4) what's your repatoire at the moment? What shows do you know? it's best not to go with anything too modern (because it's set 2 centuries ago) or overdone (like Wicked, Hairspray, Les Mis - anything that someone ALWAYS sings in an audition). Choose something that shows off your range, and any cool techniques you can use in your singing.
good luck!

Thank you so much,
I think I might go with close every door to me from Joseph because it shows off my talents the best. I think I might change the key in the song but I am still not sure if I should. The audition is in half a month so I still have some time to make sure I have the monologue from Jane Eyre perfect and Close every door to me perfect. I hope to get the part of Bet or even Nancy. Once again thank you.

maybe you could do something more uptempo? i'm no sure but, both Bet and Nancy have quite a few uptempo songs, but they're not "happy" characters. actually, do close every door but you could pick an arrangment that speeds up at the end, from the very held back beginning!
