HBC... then Lansbury. HBC's is pretty (in a bird's nest sort of way) but would be a bit plain on stage, Lanbury's do is much more distinctive.

I'm scared by how much Lansbury looks like my boss in that photo...

Lansbury's resembles devil horns which is obviously perfect (devil's wife etc..) and Carter's is just a mess, which could represent Lovett's madness.

Lupone's is normal and ... boring.

I like Carter's, then Lansbury's, then LuPone's.

But I have to say, when designing a Sweeney cast's visual look, look at what your Sweeney and Lovett look like to determine how they should look. There's no "visual template" for Sweeney, as each major production has completely reinvented the look, from the intentionally dull-looking costumes of the OBC to the stark post-modernism of the revival to the Victorian Gothic melodrama of the film.

I like OBC and Film designs the best, but if a director was unsure which to base their production's looks on (and let's be honest, NO director really gets the factory/Industrial Revolution subplot across, so let's not even consider that), they should look at their Sweeney and Lovett. A big, hulking George Hearn type would look ridiculous in the Depp template, the same as a wispy, Ophelia-esque Lovett wouldn't be able to rock the devil horns and frumpy dress.

Well, I truly love the Helena hairstyle, but nothing beats Lansbury's devil horns. They're so...suiting for this play xD

I thought HBC's hair looked pretty cool.I just lovett! I wore my hair like that to school 3 day in a row and to my reading comp. and every one though I was a nut-job.
