Show Suggestions?I'm thinking of suggesting a couple of shows for my high school director to consider doing in the future, but I'm lost. I'd like to consider both a musical AND a play. We have a good amount of guys, lots of girls, and we have an overall pretty big department. They've done Shakespeare every year, since I don't know when.... So my director would like something different for the play. Recent musicals my school has done include: Fiddler On The Roof Hansel & Gretel: The Opera You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown ...among others. So any suggestions? Anyone? |

Have they been the Shakespeare comedies or dramas/tragedies?
The Diary of Anne Frank was really great. Probably the most fun I've had in theatere (I was Otto). This year they did Heaven Can Wait....really funny comedy. |

Has your director ever done a melodrama? They're really fun for high school kids to perform and audiences love them.
Our school does two straight plays a year, and some of the shows we've done in past years have been John Lennon and Me (not well known but FaNtAsTiC and the characters are teenagers), Barefoot in the Park (or any Neil Simon play, really), The Foreigner, Wait Until Dark (intennnnnnnnnnse and creepy but still awesome), The Mousetrap (or any murder mystery is always fun). This year we're also doing Clue, which is great cuz it has a lot of roles. Another show with TONS of roles (though most of them are rather small) is The Madwoman of Chaillot. Also Romeo and Juliet Together And Alive At Last. Um...You Can't Take It With You, The Ladies' Man, Schoolgirl Figure, The Wrestling Season, maybe something like the Crucible, I'm going to stop naming off plays now cuz I've rambled long enough, but hopefully at least one of those is actually a good idea. |
