Please help! We're a tiny amateur theatre company in country Australia with a weird and wonderful combination of actors We have a brilliant childrens chorus (about 20) Two very good teenage females, 1 soprano, 1 alto About 10 other teenage females and 3 teenage males 2 adult females who are also very good, 1 alto 1 mezzo 2 adult males, 1 tenor 1 baritone (one in 20's, other 40's) and several other adults of all ages, most baritones, altos and mezzos. Any suggestions??? Recently we have done Annie, Cinderella and Oklahoma. |

Sounds like Bye Bye Birdie could work quite well.

Bye bye birdie sounds interesting - but im not familiar with it. I looked it up - the main issue we have is matching romantic leads. Our best females are teenagers (17-19) while our best males are adults. Would this show work with pairing them together or does it get too ... er ... involved |

I look at that list, and Swweney Todd jus screams at me. So... Sweeney?

Actually, Birdie might be PERFECT then. The second lead female (Kim) is a teenager, and her boyfriend (Hugo) doesn't sing much. The lead female (Rosie) and lead male (Albert) should be older, but if you have a teen female that could play twenties, it would work. Birdie himself should be older than a teen, because he's "dangerous" like Elvis Presley was considered dangerous. There's a teen chorus, a town chorus and several good character roles. |

You could try A song for Europe but unfortuneately I wont have a video of the show til March 2008.

I agree with Robinflamingo. Bye Bye Birdie would be PERFECT for this group. I was in it at my high school, and it's a fun show for everybody involved.

Footloose, anyone? Anyone?
I think Sweeney would be a nice choice too. It depends on the audience you're aiming at. |
