should i be disappointed/angry that i got cast as Admetus?

i have not even herd of him. what does he do? anything special?
Flitterbug

That's odd, I've never "herd" of Admetus either. I have heard of him though. And think of it this way - at least you got cast at all.

yeah i know, i happy im included in it, but i was hoping to get a more major role, and one guy got cast as skimble and busterfer. but i just want to get excited about being him really, but he's not even important is he? why does he have a name? can u tell me abit about him please?
Belle

I've just been working on his Wikipedia entry... It depends so much on what your director decides, but usually Admetus is also Macavity. He's white and ginger, tall, a dancing role, often he mates with Victoria in the Ball!

It's very fluid tho, which character does what, and if your director has doubled Skimbleshanks as Bustopher then your director is not using the traditional combinations- normally Gus plays Bustopher. Bustopher, like Gus, is primarily a singing role, Gus doesn't need much dancing. Skimbleshanks, on the other hand, is a dancer who also sings, so he usually dances throughout the show where Gus is a singer who doesn't really dance.

Anyway - ask your director what you'll be doing as Admetus. You'll certainly be dancing hard, could well be featured as Victoria's mate, and might/should have Macavity and the big fight scene with Munkustrap.

i dont get to play as mcavity

Why should you be disappointed? You've got a role as what may or may not be a chorus character, depending on your director's vision. It'll be a lot of work either way--Cats is pretty chorus-intensive.
Your options are as follows:
A) be disappointed and sulk about not getting a bigger part.
B) refuse the role and miss out entirely.
C) enjoy putting on the show and get a great learning experience.

And don't give me that "he's not important" stuff. If the character exists, your director must think he's important enough to be included. What's more, your director thinks YOU are important enough to be included. Being cast at all--and I speak as someone who's been to more auditions than she can count and still only been cast once--means that you've been given the opportunity to be part of something. Maybe you're not what they were looking for in the major roles, but they still thought you were good enough to be part of it.

yeah i know, its a college thing and pretty much all the boys got a named role, but yeah i am very happy to be in it! so i am pretty much changing this thread to what does admetus's role in the musical does he do anything really special? we have a plato who is a much better dancer than me, hes like a ballerina, so i think he will be "mating" with victoria Sad
Belle

What Admetus does is entirely up to your director- we don't know what your director's going to do with the character.

yeah i thought thatd be the case, thanks for help!

Admetus is a cute character!
An old Internet friend of mine even made a whole website dedicated to him, www.freewebs.com/admetusfankitten
Check it out and you can see how wonderfully goofy he is, hehe.
So yes, be glad you were cast at all, and as a character rather than a swing, or something along those lines.
Just enjoy being in CATS. It's a fun show.
whereisskimble?

.

Yea Admetus is cool. Like other people have said you should just be happy to be included and make the best of it because im sure it will be a blast and an incredible learning experiance anyway.
