Shoshana Bean-a top Elphie

She's the one I saw live, In Toronto in Deceber. I remember I was soooo close, the seventh row fromm the front! anyway, I thought she was AMAZING!!! She definetly lived up to Idina (she replaced her on Broadway back when the show first started) but I know some people think she overriffs on the songs...but that's what I like about her. Megan Hilty and Clifton were also wonderful as Glinda and Fiyero...in fact the whole cast was great! Applause

I also watch youtube, but I've been warned against talking about those vids, so I'll just keep to what I saw live, unless you guys don't mind me mentioning them...

anyway, I was wondering what you guys think of Shoshana or Megan or anyone else from the cast, if you like them or not, etc. etc.

I've not come across any problems with youtube on these boards yet!
I don't want to vote just yet, although I've watched alot of different performances on you tube, they can barely inform me on what the actual live performance was like.
I have only seen Idina and I can't deny it, she blew me away - goosebumps, the works! But the only other Elphaba on that list I'm likely to get to see live is Kerry Ellis and I haven't had the chance (or the money!) yet.
Ok, I will vote Idina, but who knows, I may well come back in a few months with a thread praising Kerry or Cassidy or whoever else lol! Razz

Youve forgotten Julia!!! She and Sho are my favs (that looks really weird), from the research I did when I first found out about Wicked on a certain site mentioned above. I have certain bounaries when on that site though.
I've seen Idina live, and I loved her, she has improved greatly! And I'm really looking forward to seeing Kerry as well, I'm hoping to travel into London again soon.

The annoying thing is I could be at Victoria in about 20mins...just a tube ride away. Why oh why am I so broke?!?!? Shocked

Idina Menzel (Original Broadway/London) - Obviously amazing
Shoshana Bean - I like her, not my favourite, not my least by far! I do love her ending note!
Stephanie J. Block - i dont like her deepness in her voice, in some notes it sound like she "bahhhhs" them!
Eden Espinosa - Good!
Ana Gasteyer (Original Chicago) - Nice speaking voice, good singing, but hmm doesn't blow me away
Julia Murney (Current Broadway) - Shes getting better deffinatly than how she started, I like her but not in my favourites, i think her last notes might do with a bit of work
Victoria Matlock - of what i've heard sounds a bit weak, and not matured to the part yet!
Kristy Cates - Goood/Average!
Dee Roscioli (Current Chicago) - shes got an unusuall tone to her voice, i don't know if I like it or not, sounds like shes got a cold a bit...hmm not sure
Kerry Ellis (Current London) - a dolll!
Cassidy Johnson - Is very good, especially as shes new to the role
Saycon Sengbloh - I'm a fan!
Brandi Chavonne Massey - I love her, shes got an amazing end to it! Shame she strugles with the lyrics though!
Jenna Leigh Green - I'm a massive fan of her, love her.
Maria Eberline - Not suree
Carmen Cusack - Good
Dan'yelle Williamson - Not heard
Shona White - Not heard
Jennifer DiNoia - Not heard

I live in Toronto, so I'll nnever have a chance to see Idina or Kerry, but I watched them and others on Youtube...Kerry is very, very good. She sounds exactly like Stephanie J Block on Defying Gravity, if you've heard block...she's one of my other fav's after Sho and Idina and Julia

I voted Eden, but there's already a thread somewhere here about the best Elphaba. Smile
