The audition information for this year's children's show was just posted today (which sucks, since the audition is tomorrow). Anyway, i need a short (30sec) monologue that is child appropriate. The show is a 30 minute version of The Wizard of Oz called "Dorothy and the Wizard". Please help!
The only monologue i have that i think could possible work is Peppermint Patty's monologue from Snoopy.

Lots of older children's books may be out of print so if you do a search online you can probably find some good stuff.

Do you think Cinderella's opening speech from the children's play "Cinderella Cinderella" would work? I'll type it up so that you have an idea of what i'm talking about.

Cinderella: Hello. Who are you? You look so nice. You reminde me of the friends i used to have before my stepmother drove them all away. Now i don't get to play much. I work all the time. An i get so tired. Look at this house. The floors need scrubbing, the windows need polishing and the fireplace needs sweeping. I'll never get it all done. Oh, if only...But no, no, it's no use. I wanted so to go th that ball. I would dance and dance and...What's the use of dreaming. If only...do you think...you could help me?. Would you help me scrub the floor. Here are some sponges. You can start right away. And now the windows. Would you like to polish a window? And you? Right there. And there are your rags. And...I can't believe it, the place looks cleaner already. Oh, I forot the foreplace. Here, i'll give you a broom and you a dustpan. And i'll help you all scrub. The rest of you warn us if you hear my stepsisters coming. They have high, shrill voices....Are tht coming? Oh, they are. Quick, everyone, back to your seats. They musn't find you here.

You don't really have an audience, the props, etc. to do that monologue...it's too interactive for an audition...

I would stick with a monologue you already know, since you basically have NO TIME to learn one! LOL!

I would do the one you said before...Peppermint Patty's monologue from Snoopy...
