Shock Treatment

What do you guys think of the sequel to Rocky Horror?
Jordan

I disliked it. It tried too hard.
Monsieur D'Arque

Not a sequel, not a prequel. It's an equal... or so the movie's slogan says.

And I do like that Richard took his style in a fairly new direction- though like Mel Brooks he includes his usual stock characters. The music is alright. It grows on you as an album more than it does as the soundtrack to a musical though. You love the songs but not how they fit in the movie.

I thought it was ok nothing too special. It does not measure up tp Rocky by any means

well, of course, nothing will ever match up to Rocky Horror. Shock Treatment is not a true sequal either. i call it a spin-off, simply because you're seeing characters from the original doing something else - also, many of the actors, too.

the true sequal, Revenge Of The Old Queen - a sequal to O'Brien's original stage version of Rocky Horror - is the only one that has ever been attempted. however, i think i read somewhere that it is no longer going to happen. i'd understand that, though. i mean, Tim Curry would never return and even if he did, all of the actors that originated their roles are far too old in the 2000s. plus, the original narrator (jonathan adams) has passed on. a good time for this show to come out - if ever - would have been still in the 70s, but more appropriately - the 80s.

but, back on the original topic. i enjoy Shock Treatment. theres good songs and music and certain parts are lotsa fun. i did buy it when it came out on dvd for the first time and i own the soundtrack. maybe Im just a devoted fan of Richard O'Brien...
