She Loves Me

Anyone ever seen this show?? I just saw it about a week ago, and thought it was pretty good, (even if the music got a bit repetitive)

Any thoughts?

Haven't seen or heard the full show. Love "Vanilla Ice Cream". Fantastic audition song.

That song was the best moment in the show.

She Loves Me is my favorite musical! The music is brilliant and I laugh every time I listen to the recording. Such a good show!

It's a good song, but not for auditions...it's TERRIBLY overdone! (Darn shame, ain't it?)

Anyways...The full production is wonderful!

I love "Try Me", "Will He Like Me?" and the title song...It's a pretty un-tapped gem, for the most part, although in auditions, "Ice Cream" is overdone...

its bene done 4 times herei n the last 10 years..but its still a good show. the OBC recording with Daniel Massey,Barbara Cook and Jack Cassidy is excellent.

LOVE it!!! I have the revival cast recording (1993) and since I got it, it's been almost constantly in my car's CD player. Amalia is a new dream role!
I love the song when they are selling stuff and the conversations overlap... can't remember what it's really called... "If you want to clip your... earlobes.. you may want to dye your... hangnails... dab a little on your... husbands face... 'won't he be surprised!' "

Off- topic- why is Mr. Kodaly's name pronounced "Ko-dai"?

Jazzy- are Will he Like Me or Dear Friend or If I knew his Name as overdone as Vanilla Ice Cream?
I'd really like to use those for an audition sometime. Confused
Salome

the revival recording is okay. Howard McGillin is wonderful as is jOhnathan freeman. but the rest of the cast isnt as strong as the OBC. no one can beat Daniel Massy singing the title song or Barbara Cook's soaring on "ice Cream".

Will he like me and Vanilla ice cream are both way over done. Vanilla ice cream is cute but pretty much is all a set up for the high note at the end. I forget which I think SETC, which is a big combined regional auditoin, has it specifically as a DO NOT SING. I love both songs and when no one is around I grab the score and sing them (I am a guy). I really love this show. It is just kinda light and frothy, in a good way. A nice pleasant night at the theatre, which is sometimes what everyoen needs.

I agree..."Dear Friend" and "If I Knew His Name" are not as overdone, so you could probably try those with no problem...

(SD...correct me if I'm wrong! LOL!)

I saw it this summer and loved it!

the bad news is my hubby and I might be moving before then...

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Amalia is a perfect role for me.
If we are still in the state I will make plans to live with someone for two months so I could do that show. Wink

She Loves Me is the best musical, and so over looked. the plot is so prabable, and the music is amazing. the song Try Me in 1993 revivle ttly reminds me of MUE in Spelling Bee, but thats another story... my favorite quote is below

I saw this show three years ago and LOVED it!!! Never forgotten it. Most underrated musical of all time, in my opinion. And if you're going to get a disc, get the 1993 revival. It's SO much better than the original.

And Brigantine, Kodaly's name is pronounced "Ko-dai" because the letter combination "ly" is pronounced like "y" in Hungarian. (Hungarian has a lot of consonant combinations that are pronounced in ways that would be unexpected to an English speaker.)
