Shakespeare audition dilemmaHi everyone,
I am a 20 year old actress preparing to auditon for Richard III. I get to choose one 1-2 min monologue. I was hoping to do a monologue from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Too overdone?
Furthermore, is doing a monologue from one of his comedic plays a mistake (for Richard III), or should I stick to one of the histories or tragedies?
I'd prefer to find something in my age range, which can be a challenge...
Help would be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely NOT audition for Richard III with a Midsummer Night's Dream piece. (unless you're auditioning for one of the murderers)
Go with something more of the style - NOT a comedy.
First off, for which role are you auditioning?
(I LOVE Richard III. My favorite Bard play. I was in a production in November and it was incredible!)
What might be neat, actually, if you're going for one of the parts that is featured in the Henry VI plays, would be to do one of the pieces from those. Otherwise, there's still PLENTY from which to choose.
Which part do you want??
We'll take it from there.
(I'm 20 also, but my production was a college one, so I was able to play Queen Margaret - which was awesome!!! - but in a professional setting, I would have been considered fora part more in my age range, like Lady Anne. What's your sitch?)

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely look in to the history plays.
And I'm going for Lady Anne, since it's a professional audition
