Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

My favourite movie ever, and I know the stage would be different, eg, more songs and they wouldn't be able to do the barn-raising.

Anyway, the knew songs were so lovely including; Glad You Were Born and the different lyrics in Wonderful, Wonderful Day were great too! Shame, June Bride isn't there and Lonesome Polecat is cut down considerably.

Saw Dave Willets and Shona Lindsay (ex Phantoma and Christine) as the leads. They worked so well together and emitted great chemistry!

The dance seems were, as predicted, amazing! They do so many turns and jumps and spins and there is so much going on you never know where to look!

The brothers were adorable and the brides great dancers with lovely dresses!

Unfortunately they made Frank, my fav character in the movie, really dumb here, but oh well, good characterisation!

The atmosphere was electric and overall a great night, never heard so many cheers for any musical I've ever seen!

Discuss movie and stage show here!

What do you mean they wouldn't be able to do the barnraising? They do it in the stage version. I've never seen it done as impressively as in the movie, but then there aren't that many choreographers who are as good as Michael Kidd was.

Well, when I saw it there was no barn-raising, just a challenge dance and a fight.

We did Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in our community theater last year and it was so much fun. I got play Alice the youngest bride which was a dream role for me. We didn't have a barn raising in our show either. It was a town social when everyone got together to dance and mingle. Then there was a huge fight between the townsfolk and the brothers which was a lot of fun to watch even though it was on stage. It was so much fun to do all of the dancing.

that's what our's was too. I just keep forgetting that there were other people in the town scene besides the suitors. We had a small "town", but I guess that is what happens when you live on an island in the middle of nowhere. It was still a lot of fun and I would love to do the show again.
