Seussical... ?I was recently cast as a chorus member in Seussical. The rest of my friends are Whos... so... is there a difference between the Chorus part and the Who part? Thanks!

The Whos are pretty much Chorus, but there are different Chorus groups (Jungle Citizens, Whos, Circus Animals, Seussians, etc.).
Whoever you are playing -- the show is amazing and you will have a GRREAT time!!!

M'kay... my friend told me (he's a bit older than me and he's a Wickersham Brother) that I'll have more fun in regular Chorus since I'll be able to be in most of the big productions. I wasn't sure if he was just trying to make me feel better or not though XDD Still, I can't wait... it's good to know I'll have a good time ^_^

Yeah, cuz since you're in the "general" Chorus, you could probably be ALL of the Chorus parts that I listed above!
That's odd that they have a group of people ONLY as Whos, though.

YAY Seussical!! I was a Who. And Max the Dog- I rocked that "woof" line, let me tell you.
But we did a twist on seussical- we did it as the whos were sort of refugees, and the cat.. well, it's hard to explain. And Horton was kind of schizo.
what's cool is that what we did was kind of tried to hurricane katrina, and so I organized a fundraiser and we raised over 500 dollars, which was AMAZING.
But Seussical is awesome- but the CD kind of sucks. But the music is a LOT of fun. So I hope you have a lot of fun!!!

All of the groups? Wow ^_^
Yeah... it's a theatre in my city just for kids 18 and under, but anyone in our county can be in it... we had around 200 people audition, so.. yeah ^_^ There were plenty of people to fill up chorus roles.
I'm really excited though. I've heard a lot of great things about this show!

Ah, sorry about the misunderstanding.
So how was it tied to Katrina?

Well, it's kind of complicated, and this really won't make too much sense if you don't know the show. Bascially, our director read the script and realized how most of the show could be applied to today. So, the Whos became displaced persons who had lost everythng (Katrina-esque). And if you listen to the lyrics, it makes sense in a way( ex: "We're Whos here/Win or lose here/Struggling to stay alive"). He conencted it in a way that the Whos were going unnoticed, liked the people affected by the hurricane were. The Whos weren't happy and colorful, they were desperate. In addition, a big motif was the classic seuss vortex, which happens to look a LOT like a hurricane vortex. So our backdrop was the back of the stage painted in bright orange and pink in a loose shape of the Gulf coast, and we had a vortex shaped light that would come on.
And during "Havin' a Hunch, he had a projection of things from all over the world- refugees, starvation, etc- it was really well done- agian, the words have it all in there- a cycle of atrocities ("Now a nervous hunch is telling you/You could be lost/As it leads you down a path /You have already crossed") that society keeps repeating.
I could go on and explain every detail- I left out a LOT of BIIIG changes he made, but basically the show was awesome. I didn't even TALK about Solla Sollew. I have never been so proud to be a part of a production as I was of that show. EVER.[/quote]

That sounds INCREDIBLE.
I was in the show last year, and absolutely loved it.

is it just me, or is seussical being done EVERYWHERE nowadays? i've seen about seven or eight places just in my area that are doing it. i have an interview coming up for one, in fact. not much of a point to this, just a comment.

That does sound really cool! I think we're just doing a regular version... but that was really awesome of your director.
