Saw the Revival tour

Saw it last night at the Ahmanson last night. Parts I liked and other parts I didn't. A very well worth seeing production either way. After I hung out with a few of the cast members and had a nice little chat with Judy Kaye. Even got my program signed by them all Smile

I saw yesterday's matinee, and I thought it was really good, especially Lucy, Tobias, and Mrs. Lovett. I also got one of the signed posters they were selling for Broadway Cares.

One question though, why was Pirelli played by a woman (sorry if it's been asked before....)?

Yes, Tobias was the best one in the production. Umm, well the Broadway cast had pirelli played by a woman. Lack of a good tenor? Or the addition of another female voice for ensemble numbers?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was to have more women for the ensemble numbers. There are only ten actors and if Pirelli was a man, there would only be 3 women: the beggar woman, Johanna, and Mrs. Lovett.

Yeah, see that's what I figured. Either way it worked. P.s. I loved seeing the 12 year olds in the cheap seats. Someone should have told them Depp wasn't in this.

I saw the revival tour @ the Ahmanson recently, and I HATED IT.

$110 down the drain!!!

STUPID ORCHESTRATIONS. STUPID SHOOWW!!! PUTRID!!!!

The actors were great.

Other than that, it paled in comparison to the Reprise! production I saw back in 1999!!!

Ugh!!!!

Funny, I thought the actors paled in comparison to the concept. It's actually kind of funny how a concept designed to save money by not having an orchestra somehow is a big hit show now. Either way it is a necessary show to see in our time because a show that adds that extra element of instrument playing will probably not happen again for a long time.

That's why I love GoldStar. I paid $12 to mildly dislike it.

Yeah, between equity and inland playworks I think I payed about $20 for center orchestra.

Can you elaborate on what this Goldstar service is?

I saw it last night and LOVED IT! it was an interesting adaption of the musical, but it worked. I especially loved Judy Kaye, her Mrs. Lovett was spot on. Unfortunatly, David Hess was unable to preform so Sweeney was played by David Barry. I thoroughly enjoyed everyone's preformance, Sondheim must be proud.
