SAT scores come out today...

So, was anyone else sweating bullets about the SAT scores that were posted online today? I didn't study at all and was really nervous. But I ended up with a 2250, so it's all good.

How are you all feeling?

You make me look stupid.

I feel old now. I remember "back in the day" when the absolute highest you could get on your SATs was 1600. There was no essay component when I took the exam. I don't even understand what the scoring system is anymore.

Sigh ... Confused
kozafluitmusique

...dang that's amazing.

I did okay when I took them last month. I'm too scared to see what my SAT II subject test was for math level II.

*goes to look anyway*

590! On Math Level II for crying out loud! Not bad considering I got a 620 on the regular Math portion on the SAT I!

Modest much?

You should be feeling great, not "good". With that school, you can essentially go to any school you want to in the US.
~GertrudeMcFuzz~

I didn't take the SAT, because the schools I'm applying to didn't require it. But I took the ACT twice instead. I didn't do very well the first time, but the second time I got a 31 and decided to leave it at that. My school counselor wanted me to take it again, but I think I'm just going to ignore her...

Aww, thank you. I'm still just kinda hoping they didn't screw up my scores or anything. Wink I actually know someone who got 2330, which is just crazy.

~GertrudeMcFuzz~, yeah, I was going to take the ACT but my counselor said that the SAT would be enough. Luckily none of the colleges I'm looking at require the SAT II.

And thats awesome, by the way! I hate math and HATED when I took Calc AB/BC sophomore year, so I know how you feel. I was lucky just to have passed that course...
jax1491

Holy crap! Congrats!

I got a 2040 which I'm very pleased with. The first time I took them I got a 1920. Going up 120 points is very weird. Even more strange is the fact that 90 of them were in writing. I've never heard of scores jumping so much. I can get into the colleges I want. Not that I'm exactly shooting very high.

Oh..and I got a 10 on the essay which I am pleased with.
highkick49

ew, this test still exists?

*runs from thread*

The average score for most people is like 1450. Don't feel bad at all. 1770 is really good.

Ditto. Damn the math portion. Evil or Very Mad
Micaela?

I took the SAT Reasoning in May and got 2000, because I completley bombed the math.

The scores I got today were for the SAT II in US History and Literature.

USH: 670
Lit: 790 woot! Very Happy
DontDoSadnessxx

Ughh all of you did amazing!
I did so awful i can't even get into suny schools =[
curlyhairedsoprano91

Ahh, SATs. I took them last month, wound up with a 1510 (on the 1600 scale), and a 2230 or 2240 (don't remember which, on the 2400 scale). They're kind of fun.

Now I REALLY feel bad for making a 960 on the 1600 scale.
I DESPISE standardized testing....

Brick wall

i'm so glad i don't even have to think about this test anymore.
I never did nearly as well as most of you. i stopped taking it when i got an 1820 and i was really happy with that.
le_moofin

You guys are still lucky though... at least your testing center didn't have a power outage the day of your test. Not only did I have to wait 2 more weeks to take the SAT... but I have to wait 2 more weeks until I can get my scores. Urrrrgh! I took the ACT the week after the SAT, and I'm hoping that between the two I can get a pretty good score.
blackbird_fly

1970 out of 2400. Meh. I guess I'll retake it.

Don't. I got a 1690. It's probably because I actually do have a slight learning disability....that was diagnosed AFTER i took the test.

Thanks on the Math Level II - the highest math i've completed is pre-calc though Razz

That's horrible. Sad

Ther are A LOT of smart people on this website. Very Happy

Ugh. Being reminded of the SAT makes my hair curl. (well.....maybe in my case....straighten)

I had to take it last fall so I could apply to American universities and it pretty much destroyed my life for months! We don't do ANYTHING remotely resembling the SAT in Canada, so I had to relearn ALL of the math, which I hadn't touched AT ALL in three years, since I finished 11th grade.
It was a nightmare.

I took it once, did pretty badly on the math, and ended up with a 1960.
Not fantastic at all, and kept me out of Yale. (argh...) but I'm going to NYU with a nice merit scholarship, so I no longer care! hahaha. Hopefully I"ll never have to think about this crazy, stupid system again!!!

Well, until that grad school entrance test....what is that, the GRE? *shudder*
shakalakababy

people who are saying 1900s are bad scores need to get their head examined, seriously. that's why threads like this usually just make me angry after awhile.

I agree. 1900 is good! If you think about it, it's about 630 in each...on average!
Amber

I feel reeeeally stupid compared to you all with your high scores.

Out of a 2400, I got 1730.

On a 1600 scale, I got 1080.

I'm glad I got into college.
Nudelkopf

Are these the scores that get you into university?

In Queensland we have things called Overall Positions (1-25, 1 being the best). Man, NO ONE knows how the rank the students ay. Like, the QSA employs mathe/statiticians to work out the OPs.

And HS kids all over the world spend YEARS working their butt off to get a rank/number that lets them get into the course they want. And for what? After the first week of Uni your scores/ranks mean NOTHING.

Here's an example.. To get into engineering you need about an OP9. If you don't get in, you can do a basic arts course and get a GPA of less than 3 (you can fail basic arts), and then transfer into engineering after 1 year. Like, woah. How gay.

Well, they're one part of the application. But a very important part...so everyone kind of freaks out about them. Luckily, you can take them more than once.

You did 40 points higher than me on total & I did 30 points better on the 600 scale...don't feel stupid!

Not me, I got a 490 on math. I get your point though, so my apologies.
Holly

subject tests...

760 on lit which i'm happy about! would have liked like, ten points higher but i'm not complaining...

us history, though, was blech. i should have taken it around the same time as the AP tests, because i forgot most of history by the time june rolled around. 640 :[ i'm probably going to retake it in the fall because i can't pull off anything even remotely math-y/science-y.

on the regular test i got an 1880 - which i know isn't bad, but was disappointing for me because i always scored higher on practice tests.
le_moofin

I know this is the SAT thread, but I was wondering... if I got a 29 on my first try at the ACT and I don't get a really good score on the SAT (won't know my scores for another week at least), should I consider retaking it? I'm planning on majoring in journalism and really need to get lots of scholarships since my family isn't rich enough to give me a full ride ^^;; If this helps you answer my question, these are schools I'm mainly looking at:

Ohio University (Athens, OH)
Northwestern University (Evanston, IL)
Indiana University - Bloomington (Bloomington, IN)
EponineMNFF

MMMEEEWWWW! *waves*

Sorry I can't really answer your question, but that's exciting! I'm going there this fall for theatre! <333333 I'm sure you don't need explaining that is has a fantastic journalism program, but yeah. I wish I could be more helpful, but nope. I'm just excited. Hahah. Very Happy
