The Very Angry Woman

San Francisco holiday return engagement cast announced

It doesn't specify in the press release, but contrary to popular belief, this is NOT entirely the cast that will be in Las Vegas.

Yay Jeff Liebow. I'm rather proud. He was Riff in West Side with me once.

I saw it in previews this week -- Jeff is a wonderful Nick.

Oh that is so great to hear! I just saw Jersey Boys in August, but I might need to see it again, just to see him do the role.

I've talked to a few other folks who have seen this production, and the general feel seems to be that this cast isn't as strong as the other one was. Of course it's previews, so maybe not a fair comparison.

TVAW - What did you think overall?

I may have to give in and see it, just to decide for myself.

I thought the new Bob (Andrew Rannells) really stood out. He enunciated well and projected his voice a little better than the others, I thought.

I've seen them twice now and I think they're fantastic. I'm not so hot on Bryan McElroy's Tommy DeVito, but I'd also have a hard time saying he's bad or even miscast -- I just don't like his take on the role and his voice is rather thin.

My first impression of them was actually much more favorable than my first impression of the Chicago cast back in May (and, actually, the Broadway cast in October). They're very cohesive and energetic.

I can't quite put my finger on why the vibe from the general public seems to be less favorable, but it is there. Not in a hostile way, but it's palpable. My friends and I who have all seen the first and second national tours multiple times have that impression, too, but we also all like this cast, so I'm not quite sure how to describe it.

That was my first time seeing Jersey Boys, I loved the music by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe. I am glad they came back to San Francisco during the holidays. It was a great vacation in the city. I got a sweet package deal for the show and a quality hotel through San Francisco Discount Hotels.

The Jersey Boys has always been one of my favorite. It was good to see them back in San Francisco. The theater was very close to my San Francisco Hotel where I worked at. We got quite a few customers at the hotel to see the play.
