sad auditionWell, my audition for Oliver! was fantastic, I got called back for Charlotte and Bet (All the Nancy's were pretty old...) and the callbacks went wonderfully. There were about 20 girls called back for Bet, but I was obviously the only one who could pull off Charlotte. I had the cockney accent down, i was verrry flirtatious, and i had by far the best reading out of anyone. Everyone involved in the callbacks were saying i was a shooin for the part. Then I didn't get in.. the reason I believe is because i am 11 weeks pregnant, and im sure rumors of that were going around. I am just disappointed because I would not be showing by the time of performances, and so it shoudnt be a problem. oh well, I just wanted to share that because that was probably my last shot for awhile to audition for Oliver...

You should have kept your pregnancy a secret, I think. It's not uncommon for preggers women to not be cast until they pop.

Well, I'm sorry about the audition not going your way, but congratulations on the baby! That must be exciting for you!

heck yeah! i'd much rather be pregnant than have a part in Oliver! besides you can train your baby up from birth to do stage work and one day you could be in a show together! how cute!

I'm in "Calamity Jane" right now and our Katie is pregnant! But she's only about a month gone and there's nothing there to see yet!!
My Mum did a show when she was about 6 months pregnant with me! although she was too big to do much except stand and sing bless her!
And I can't wait to have a little girl (some day -- not yet!!!!) who can be in a show with me, that would be so cute!!

Yeah, i was in Wizard of Oz a little while ago, and one of the women in the ensemble was due two days after we closed! Luckily, she made it all the way to the end...

^That would be a little chancy. What if she delivered early? Or worse, if she went into labour on stage? I can see that making a difference, if you're due around the same time as the performances. But if you're not even going to show during the performances, I don't think it should matter.

Aww, that sucks. I've been there, for sure. Uhhh, in spirit. Not in pregnancy. Hehe.
But hey, congratulations on the baby, seriously! That is great news. Now you get to be a stage mom--how exciting! Ha, jk.
Oh, and I hope you get many more chances to audition for Oliver! in the future.

Uh... Charlotte wouldnt have a Cockney accent, remember the Undertakers was in the Midlands with the workhouse, so she'd have a Birmingham accent, as should Mr Bumble which most people forget (but the new movie did give him a Brummy accent!), he ran away from the Undertakers to London, only there would people have Cockney accents.

Yes, I know, but the stage manager, who I asked before I did my reading, told me to use a cockney accent...I was also being called back for Bet, so I guess it's possible they were trying to see if I could pull the accent off for that reason...

Fair enough
But so many people do forget that the Sowerburys, Mr Bumble, Widow Corney etc would all have had Midlands accents, not Cockney as so many do them!
