If you liked her Fantine you have no taste and most likely a jaw problem.
Desperado

She's not ugly.

She's not .. pretty...but not ugly.
Dvarg

I love her. Even her jaw.
Salome

i think she is beyond pretty..she is sexy as hell.
whimsical

Especially from stage.
Salome

and in person. i met her once and we chatted for about an hour. she's a really nice person too.

Do you really think so? Or are you just trying to start a discussion? Personally, I think that Ruthie is about a fabulous as it gets. Her voice is extremely unique, and she uses it flawlessly to show emotion. Her acting (though I haven't seen much of it) is also fantastic. She's not what many would call extremely pretty, but she is always so into her character that you don't care.

And about her jaw....never really noticed it!

Ruthie

I think Ruthie Henshall is wonderful. The first time I ever saw here was in a Gershwin concert a long time ago. She sang "The Saga of Jenny" and I loved it. And the most recent thing I saw was a Richard Rodgers concert where she performed "My Funny Valentine" - one of the few highlights of the night.

In between, I think she's been great as Fantine in Les Mis and in Chicago (although she's not my favourite in either show). She's one of my favourite things in Hey, Mr Producer!: she's magnificent in "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" - only Lea Salonga matches her in that quartet - and she's super in "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" too - although Bernadette Peters totally steals that number from both Henshall and Julia McKenzie when she bumps it with her trumpet. I also love her Crazy For You recording and I think her work in Putting It Together was super, although I don't particularly like the show itself.

So, I guess you could say that I like her.... Very Happy

That whole piece gets completely swallowed by Judi Dench's AMAZING turn as Desiree!

I know. I was there.

Seriously? What was it like live!?

I love Ms. Henshall! I think she is here for the long haul. I think she is an amazing performer. I saw her in Putting it Together and she held her own against Carol and George which is not an easy feet. She is actually my favorite Fantine and I love love love her in Chicago. However, I do not love her in Crazy for you for some reason. And I think she is gorgeous. Her body is incredible. I think there may be some flaws in her voce, but he emotion in it is so remarkable

Agreed. I saw her in "Woman in White" and she totally rocked my socks. Her outpouring of emotions was fantasti. I can't remember the last time that I was in an audience when an actor connected that much with the audience.

Well, sure. Nobody's saying that Dench wasn't amazing. It's not like that's even on the table for discussion.

I'm going to disagree with this. I loved her in Les Mis, hated her in Chicago.

Louis, Bob, and Janis say "A fool is the man who underestimates the singer with a nice smoker's cough."

I love Ruthie. I think she should open her mouth more when she sings, but other than that, I think she's fab. Loved her in TAC of Les Mis. Loved her in Chicago and Hey! Mr. Producer. I haven't heard her in "Crazy For You" but her solo album "Pilgrim" is amazing. I'd LOVE to see her perform live.
Colle

I like Ruthie. She is one of my favorite Fantine's in "Les Mis," and I think she sounds great as Ellen on the "Miss Saigon" CSR.
Caitlin (Pipes)

She's wonderful, and she is a very beautiful woman.
