Rue McClanahan

I read somewhere that she played Morrible. Which production was this? Did any of you see her? How was she?

She was in it on broadway. I believe she took over the role right after Carole Shelly.

I'm sure she was funny!

She performed from 31st May 05, until Carol Kane took over on 10th January 06 (Broadway).

There seem to be absolutely NO videos of this. Since the Golden Girls fanatic in me outweights my theatre fanatic (at times), I have frantically searched for some videos of her.
Nothing. Squat.
I even checked who played Elphaba when she was Morrible and looked up, out of sheer optimism, that performance of "The Wizard and I" and did the same for Glinda and "Thank Goodness."
NOTHING! d'oh!

There is a DVD of her performance.

I've seen videos. She was a horrible Morrible.
Norma Desmond

Apparently she loved performing in the role; in one interview she talks about the raked stage being a real, work-out for the body, but apart from that, she adored the role. Wish I could have seen her. She's a great singer.
