Rosie . . .

So I'm thinking of auditioning for Rosie in our community Spring show--I am 29 years old with dark hair, 5'7"--I think I'm the right age, etc. I have a little dancing experience/education and learn steps very fast. I am a mezzo but I also have a pretty strong belt.

However, I've never played a lead role in a show. I took a hiatus from theater from age 20-29 (1st show back was this summer) and I started directing shows at the high school where i work last year. I think that I could handle a lead, but auditions scare the crap out of me!

Song ideas? Acting ideas? How far do you go with an audition song? Should I even audition? Would younger girls age 19-23 have a better chance at the part?

You're about the right age and vocal type (as long as you've got a low G-flat). Not sure about audition songs, though.
