Roles you have to wait to be old enough to play...

Leo in parade... Swear to God, once I'm old enough I will be jumping on that paret, even if I have to produce the show myself.

Valjean or Javert too. If I can have a go at both then awesomeness.

And of course, if I ever get fat as well as old I'll be Edna Turnblad.
MusicalGal1194

Well seeing as how I'm a teenager, the possibilities are endless:

The Baker's Wife-ItW
Velma-Hairspray
Mrs. Lovett- Sweeney Todd
Tzietel-Fiddler
Baker

The Baker in Into the Woods
Captain Hook in Peter Pan
Salome

Phyllis in Follies
Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire
Violet Venable in Suddenly Last Summer
Mama Rose in Gypsy
Aunt Alicia in Gigi
Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd
Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate
DontDoSadnessxx

Millie. Damn I hate being 16 =[
ActingDude17

Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd

I might post more later, but I'm freaking tired right now.
Chevstriss

I'm too young to play the corpse in Weekend at Bernie's

Possibly Hold-Me Touch-Me from the Producers, assuming they do the typing right for it?
nabla

Emcee in Cabaret (which i think i would be perfect for), because no teenage company will ever do it.
ErikProuvaire

Seeing as I'm a teenager, just about every role... XD
But here are a few specific ones:
Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd
George in Sunday in the Park with George
Robert in Company
The Balladeer in Assassins
John Wilkes Booth in Assassins
Herbie in Gypsy
Brock07

I don't think anyone younger than 21 should be able to be anyone in Rent...except Mimi, who can be 19.
opheliarose

I'm kind of in a wierd zone where I'm chronologically old enough for a lot of roles, but I consistently get cast at least 10 years younger. It's a good place to be, I suppose!

Gertrude was the first that came to mind, as are all the mother roles...
Nettik

Miss Hannigan in Annie

Anita in West Side Story

Demeter in Cats

Nancy in Oliver

how old are you? you realize Anita is a teen right?

Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire

You're a fine age for Blanche. It's stated in the script that Stella is about 25, and that Blanche is around five years older than her.

I'm 15. I've always seen Anita played by much older teens or people in their twenties.

Ive never seen a Blanche under mid forties.

Vivian Leigh
Jessica Lange
Kim Stanley
Natasha Richardson
Blythe Danner

plus it makes no sense if blanche is a young woman..all her lines with mitch toward the end of the show..her being older thna him. mitch is usually late 30s.

Sad All I can think of is roles I need to be younger to play. Dye my hair grey and I could play most older roles.
broadwayxdoll

i wish i wasnt white so i could play Anita Sad

Easy solution:

Tan before auditions and continue through the run of the show.

(And dye your hair if you're a blonde)
lilmissbroadway

For the revord I'm 14
Rose-Gypsy
Mrs. Lovett-Sweeney Todd
Baker's Wife-ITW
Any female part-ACL
Eliza-My Fair Lady
Millie-TMM
Eponine-Les Miz
Maureen-Rent
Maria-WSS
Penny-Hairspray
Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut-Avenue Q
Okay... I'll admit it..... Glinda-Wicked
LaurelDP

Any role I could ever want to play I won't be able to for 10+ years. I'm lucky I already look so old.

But there are no roles for me at the age I am right now. Zero.
Amber

Pretty much EVERYTHING. The roles that I'd be great for age-wise, I simply wouldn't get cast as.

Roles That I Think I'd Be Good For...
That I Can't Play Yet Because I Am Too Young.

Penelope Pennywise- Urinetown
Elizabeth- Young Frankenstein
Lady Macbeth- Macbeth
Martha- The Children's Hour
Mrs. Lovett- Sweeney Todd

....and a HOST of other roles I would KILL to do. I'm at that lovely age, 18, where I'm too old for kiddie roles and too young for anything else. I look older than 18, but still...I don't even know WHAT my type is, and it seems that all roles are pretty inappropriate for me right now.
Robinflamingo

Berthe.

sigh.
jessiemil42

Mama Rose
Miss Hannigan

Two characters I would love to play... if I weren't 18.
Mungojerrie_rt

Leo Bloom - Producers
C.B. - Starlight Express
Rusty - Starlight Express
Annas - JCS
Riff Raff - Rocky Horror
One of the Managers - POTO

Fortunately, I am the right age for Mungojerrie.

I just have to learn to sing first. Crying or Very sad

i already have dark brown hair and am fairly tan. and i still look like your typical tan white girl. though if wss was done by a local company and a lot of white white people auditioned, theres a good chance that i could play anita.
LadyOfTheLake

Guinevere - Camelot
Eliza - My Fair Lady
Mama Rose - Gypsy
Louise - Gypsy
Ruth - Pirates of Penzance
Millie - Thoroughly Modern Millie

There's a bunch more, but those are the top ones right now.
~GertrudeMcFuzz~

Guinevere- Camelot
The Lady of the Lake- Spamalot
Penny Pingleton- Hairspray (the character is age-appropriate, but obviously the rights aren't out for schools yet, so...)
Millie- Thoroughly Modern Millie
Cathy- The Last 5 Years. When I go to college, I am pretty much going to force the theatre department into doing this show. Smile
Elle Woods- Legally Blonde (Oh, shut up.)
Either Glinda or Elphaba- Wicked (I haven't yet figured out which one suits my voice better)
Eponine- Les Mis
Annie- Annie Get Your Gun (Although this is my school musical next year, so I'll keep my fingers crossed...)
Christine- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Chaperone- The Drowsy Chaperone
Audrey- Little Shop of Horrors
Marguerite- The Scarlet Pimpernel

Okay, that's a lot. Basically every show you mention, I can think of a role I would love to play. Smile
Fosse Queen

Mrs. Lovett- Sweeney Todd
Marion Paroo- The Music Man
Mama Rose- Gypsy

I'm sure there are more.
