I know this should go in a different forum, but I know I'll get responses in this one. So our school's last 4 shows have been Bye Bye Birdie, Damn Yankees, Grease, and Guys and Dolls, so our director was saying how he wanted to go completely different next year and do a rock musical. We were trying to think of some that would work for school (or could find ways to get it past administration). Bonus points for something that isn't totally male dominated. (Oh! If you can't think of any, pop or contemporary works too!)

The Wedding Singer? That could be fun. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels could work too. And although it's not a rock musical, Spelling Bee would be a nice departure from the shows you have been doing as well, although it does have a small cast, which could be a problem.

I was thinking Wedding Singer too. As for Spelling Bee, or director really wouldn't mind a small cast (we usually like to keep it around 30 nowadays with exception of Guys and Dolls) and has said it could work for a high school.
