REVIVALS

Well, I've been noticing a trend recently. Lots of revivals have been opening and for the most part, they have been very good.

In the past 2 years, we have had excellent (or at least good) revivals of "The Threepenny Opera", "A Chorus Line", "Les Misérables", "Company", "The Apple Tree", "110 in the Shade", "Grease", "Sunday in the Park with George", "Gypsy", and "South Pacific" with "Pal Joey", "Dancin", "Godspell", and "The Wiz" on the way. So, what would you like to see revived. It can even be a show that closed a couple years ago.

My List
Cats
Les Misérables
Miss Saigon
Beauty and the Beast
Titanic
Jekyll & Hyde
Fiddler on the Roof
Ragtime
Footloose
Aida
Thoroughly Modern Millie
The Boy from Oz
Little Women
The Light in the Piazza
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The Drowsy Chaperone
The Color Purple
The Wedding Singer
Grey Gardens
Rent
The Producers
Starlight Express
Annie Get Your Gun
pish123c

A majority of the shows on your list have:

A.) Been revived recently
B.) Are not even closed yet
C.) Closed in their original/revival runs recently

I think the only one still playing was "Rent".

Not quite yet. It closed like... two seconds ago.

These JUST LEFT. A revival is way too early for these still.

Oh, and not CATS. Just 'cause.

Cats
Dreamgirls
Once on this Island

How could I forget "Dreamgirls"?

"Beauty and the Beast" will have been gone from Broadway for about 8 months now.

"Cats" needs a revival.

"Miss Saigon" did not "just leave".

Neither did "Thoroughly Modern Millie".
ilovebway

Of course that some of those musicals did not "just leave", but still, some of the shows you listed have been on Broadway too recently to even consider a revival taking place anytime soon.

Cats
Miss Saigon

How about Whistle Down the Wind?
I think it never played on Broadway...I just wanna know why?

From what I heard, the backers didn't like Harold Prince's direction.

The problem with CATS getting a revival is that they will do some sort of *~*~Artistic Interpretation~*~* on it, and it will flop. I can't see it NOT happening.
shakalakababy

Yeah honestly I don't think i show should be revived until it's been off broadway for like at least 10 years.

Some shows i'd like to see revived:
The Secret Garden
Kiss of the Spiderwoman
A little night music
Carousel
City of Angels
Grand Hotel

some others

If Les Mis is revived (I know not yet, but in the future) I hope to God they use the original orchestrations instead of the new ugly ones.

Hahaha I can't believe we're talking about Les Mis being revived again. Laughing Then again, it was hardly closed at all before they revived it the first time around. I'm waiting for the 2009 tour! Very Happy

I'd LOVE to see Pippin revived. Kiss of the Spiderwoman sounds interesting from what I know of it, but I haven't heard it yet. I would see a revival, though.

Spiderwoman is easily Kander and Ebb's deepest and most thought provoking show. I saw it with Brian Stokes mitchell,Howard McGillin and Vanessa Williams twice.
