Response to VictoriaTWC

I haven't been on here since December,
but when I heard about this,
I had to log back on.

Listen,
are you SURE you see OTHER high school
shows up to par or BETTER than us?

I mean,
we put SO much time into our shows,
striving to be a step ahead,
and then you judge us as professionals.

I mean, we are CONSTANTLY compared to professional
shows-but in a POSITIVE light.

We've been compared as better than broadway,
better and more creative than the movie-
the list goes on.

I'd bet my life you've never seen a better high school production.

Now, [This is Grizabella here if you hadn't figured it out by my name]
I'm sorry I messed up the words, and I'm sorry you didn't
enjoy me looking down, and I'm sorry you felt my voice wasn't up to par.
But love, I worked my ASS on that role. I'd sit in character
backstage. You can't post things without giving anyone ANY credit.

We. worked. our. ASSES. off.

& Yes, Jemima has a GORGEOUS voice, but the others were right in saying she's a soprano. She couldn't belt that. She had trouble belting Mayzie in Seussical [and that isn't high at ALL]...Granted she could play Christine on broadway EASY-cause that's in her range.

As some of the others said, I wish you had posted this BEFORE the show was over, because really all you did was hurt people-and gave hardly any praise.

Alright, well I've gotta cut this short because I'm actually on my way to a call back for the next disney movie. I'd ask you to wish me luck, but to be honest, I doubt you lack that courtesy.

Please be more careful with your words.
Thank you.

Hi hon, welcome back [huggs].

Okay I'm NOT going to get into this but I'm sorry that you and the others got hurt. CATS is a hard show to do anyway w/o one person's rotten opinion getting in the way. And I would think it would be especially hard for a high school or dinner theater group to do it b/c you're not always working with "professionals" for a lack of a better word. You're working with people who love the show and are passionate about bringing it to the stage for all that it's worth.

Now sure sometimes the singing or the dancing is compromised a bit and so okay maybe the costumes aren't up to “professional” grading standards; but to be bluntly honest, personally I think that THAT is what gives the high school and dinner theater group productions their charm.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched clips on YouTube.com and wished that I had a copy of the DVD that production b/c let's face it, no matter how much we all love our DVD of the show it can and does get boring b/c there isn't any variety in it. But with h/s or d/t productions you get that spontaneity and freshness that you don't get with the video.

I say that yall just rock on and forget what the critic says b/c in the end yall are the only one's whose opinions DO count!!!!!!!

"Cats" is a hard show to do. I recently saw a local community theatre production, and I remember constantly telling myself to go into it with an open mind, that this wasn't NYC or London, and I ended up taking my mom to see it the next day. We both loved it, and I must say, the guy playing Mungojerrie put a great new spin on him!
