Well at least Justin Johnston is doing Angel. He did great in the last performance. :] I'm really hoping to get tickets to this, but it's not coming anywhere near me.  Ah well. I suppose Rent Filmed Live on Broadway will have to suffice until then.

Dang, Gwen Stewart again! That sounds like a fantastic cast.
Also, is anyone else as happy as I am that Justin Johnston is back as Angel? On top of Adam and Anthony, of course. :] |

Really loving the fact that Gwen Stewart is doing the tour. The only thing that would make me happier would be seeing Fredi Walker come back, but you have to love Gwen. Though I am sure Haneefah Wood will be great. | ||

dont know thing one about Haneefah. Gwen did a great Joanne back in '98 and YES to Fredi Walker returning!  THE BEST Joanne EVER. Gwen is 2nd.

Idk. I still think Tracie Thoms did a fantastic job as Joanne, in both the film and the stage show. It just makes much more sense to see Maureen with an attractive partner...she's not one who would look deep inside someone. | ||

i do see what you're sayin there. on the Rent message boards, they thought i was a real @$$hole when i said that the character of Joanne is better played by someone overweight because she is self-conscious and worried about losing Maureen to someone hotter. now, i know that even so-called "beautiful" people can have those types of worries about their boyfriends/girlfriends - but that was just my opinion on the character. it's not meant to come off rude, Im by no means perfect in the body or face, but it's just how i feel about the character. i've gotten many opinions about this from all types of people and nearly all of them agreed with me that casting someone bigger like Fredi or Gwen is the way to go. plus, i just feel that those 2 had the best voices. |
