actually, there is - sort of. when you put on a production of the HS version, they can send you a copy of the songs - every song from the show - as performed by high school kids. it's not horrible, but it's not great. just something to add to any Rent audio collection. it is nice that things omitted from the obc soundtrack are on it - i.e. the entire spoken section in the middle of Tango: Maureen.

I don't intend to be one of those 'prick' who are like "IT'S NOT A SOUNDTRACK1111", but in case you weren't aware, unless it's a recording of a movie (e.g. The RENT film), then they are referred to as Cast Recordings.

Whywhywhywhywhy would anyone want that? It's not THAT good a show to have to suffer through an awful prepubescent cast, much less add it to their collection. The fact that Rent Remixed has a cast recording is bad enough.

A lot of people care. You won't get much respect in the musical theatre world if you go around calling an original cast recording a soundtrack. They are two entirely different things. Dolbinau was saying it in the nicest way possible, and you're lucky that he posted in this thread instead of some of the other Cast recording Nazis on the site.

Just FYI.

theres better things to nitpick about than that. Im sure thats been covered numerous times in numerous threads on this forum and all over the net. and, i doubt that it's as big a deal as you both are making it out to be - and it's not like the musical theatre world shuns all those who get it wrong. Im entitled to my own opinion, whether you like it or not. Im not lucky about anything.

Just FYI.

probly getting this thread back on topic now would be a grand idea!
Please,Hello

You all need to get a grip. First off, in theatre, calling it a soundtrack is against the law (I should know, I've been there) and second, what the------. Rent with teens. Oh-------.

well, i do appologise for the name-calling, even tho the user sorta called themself one first. but, i shouldnt have added to that. it just seemed like they were picking on the new person and that bugs me when people do that. just because you put 111111 rather than actual exclamation points, doesnt make it come off as nice as possible or whatever.

I'm bias but no I reckon my post was very 'nice' and not 'picking on them' at all.

There is a difference between: "in case you weren't aware, unless it's a recording of a movie (e.g. The RENT film), then they are referred to as Cast Recordings."

And: "They are called CAST RECORDINGS not SOUNDTRACKS"

Because one seems like genuine informing, and the other is just demanding.

And to suggest that I need to 'get a life' to point out there is a difference, is silly. Yes, I'm sure I choose to stay at home all day telling people this instead of actually going outside Rolling Eyes.

well, it's done with. cest la vie - lets move on. this has gone too far off-topic and too much about correct terminology. life's too short to worry about such things.

well played, everyone. the end. Applause
