Angee

I do!!! I love it!!
(see pics of 2007 post!!)
Salome

Its a really fun show! One of the theatre companies I work with wants to do it next year! fingers crossed*

I gotta say, Amy Spanger is hilarious! I think she's so under-rated! More people need to see what an amazing actress she is!

And I LOVE Kristen Bell's "transformation" to bad girl! LOL!

And Anna...well...she's just awesome! I love the moment when she belts out "RAPES ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and the people on the street drop whatever they're holding, etc...
Salome

I'm hoping for Amy Spanger's role if the show is put on the season!
jazzygirlsings

Surprise, surprise! LOL! Wink
Salome

shut up you! Cool
jazzygirlsings

From the show: "Shut up, baby!"

Those scenes were hilarious!

And BTW Salome, you need to learn to dance like Amy Spanger, too! LOL! YEAH...DANCE!!!!!!! Your old nemesis! Wink

I doubt you can do a body-roll quite like hers! It should be patented! LOL!
krisavalon

I have the Showtime version, and it's awesome. I hope to see it on stage at some point.
Angee

Salome you would make a great Sally!! I would love to play Mary Lane, for real this time. This has to be one of my favorite musicals! And Christian Campbell is so yummy!! Drool
jazzygirlsings

Mary Lane totally cracks me up...and yes...Christian Campbell is pretty yummy! LOL!
Cake_in_Song

The best part of the whole show is clearly Jesus. "Trust the man with the stigmata..."

Monsieur D'Arque

Ana Gasteyer owns the part of Mae. I hate to say it, but applying an "Elphaba Aguilera" quality to the part gave it so much more intensity and emotion. Compare the wildly inferior LA Cast Recording to the phenomenal movie soundtrack and you'll see. Luckily, the new licensed version of the show (I have the script to the LA version, the NYC score, and both the script and score to the 2006 licensed version, so I'm kind of an expert) represents the best of the movie and the stage show. However, future Maes should be required to listen to Ana's take on the part, as the written music follows the original melody without Anna's belted highs and little bits of improvisation, which should, in my opinion, be canon for the part.

How funny that this thread appears, I just watched this movie on New Year's Eve and I bought it for my sister for Christmas. Oh my goodness I love it so much! I'm also a huge Kristen Bell and Amy Spanger fan. Ana is hilarious as Mae...when she screams "rapes me"...oh man.

I would DIE to play Mary Lane, especially now that they've added Mary Jane,Mary Lane to the revised stage version.
Angee

Our VERY non professional version. I played Mary. We sang R&J, 5 and Dime, Mary Sunshine, Listen to Jesus Jimmy, and Orgy.

Yeah, that's me! It was a preshow we did before the Rocky Horror Picture Show (I played Janet in that). It was a mix of Reefer Madness and Rocky Horror. Our director changed some wording and all to make it fit. The complete show is on youtube now, we did 5 songs. First time I sang in front of people besides karaoke. We had over 500 people in the audience!! It was so much fun!!!

I freaking love it. A friend of mine just played Jimmy Harper in a version of Reefer Madness, I was going to go but the show was 18 and over and my sister is only 17 and would have hated me FOREVER if I went without her. I seriously love that you all did this as a pre-show to Rocky Horror. Gotta love cult musicals/films!
jazzygirlsings

^That would be a great idea! Smile

I loves me some Reefer Madness! LOL!
Satine

It truly is a fun, charming, and SMART show. One of the best musicals to hit any kind of stage in recent years. I had way too much fun doing it. I can't wait to see how it takes off, now that it's gotten a bit more popular with the movie release and the recent availability of performance rights.
shadowdancer

I had a really fun time when I did the show. I think it actually works better as a film then stage show though. Just the whole style of it seems to work better on screen. It is a blast to be in, especially if you have a director who has weekly "character" research rehearsals in his basement lol. I do not really think it will get too much bigger. It is a great show, but honestly, not strong enough to be a cult favorite, especially with Bat Boy so huge now.
superdave

Listen to Jesus...Jimmy!--Just say no to the marijuana!

I love it!
DontDoSadnessxx

Best line ever: One day I'll get cancer or hit my a train!!! *with the big smile on his face*

Love this show <3

Quick question can this show be done without a chorus?
Monsieur D'Arque

Traditionally, yes. It was originally done without one, a la Little Shop of Horrors. Nonetheless, especially in the new revised version, a chorus of even just four or five adds a lot to the show, with the new choral sections rewritten. Plus, you'll need school kids, orgy dancers, zombies and Concerned Parents.
