I am playing Jeffrey and our musical director wants to change it from a recorder(cause he doesn't like it) to a fugal horn solo...now i do play trumpet and the are very similar...but the thing is there is a girl in the company...yes our stupid director added a freaking company...and the girl plays trumpet and shes better than me..honestly....and i think shes gonna get it and don't you all think that takes away from Jeffrey and the whole musician aspect?

Nah, don't worry. The character of Jeffrey is a musician because Jeffrey, the original actor in the part, was a musician. There's nothing in his character or plot development that indicates that he must be one. It was just an entertaining bit of business in the original. It's fun, but more often than not, it's whoever is a competent instrumentalist of any sort. It's been a recorder, violin, cello, or, my personal favourite, sitar solo over the years.
