Hi, I'm new to the forum. Got the web address off my singing teacher.

I'm planning to do Grade 8 Musical Theatre this November, for which I need five songs/performances with a theme - currently my theme is 'I Want to Break Free' and I'm doing songs about breaking conventions, escaping from places, that sort of thing. Bit random but it sounds good. Problem is, I only actually have three songs so far, so I was wondering if the people here could help me out at all?

I'm technically a soprano, but I'm more comfortable singing mezzo, and I pretty much have a big enough range to do any female song apart from maybe that bit that goes way above top C in Phantom of the Opera.

My songs so far are:
Green Finch and Linnet Bird (Sweeney Todd)
Hammer to Fall (We Will Rock You)
Defying Gravity (Wicked)
...so really something sorta jazzy would be good, but anything you can think of will help.

I don't know if it quite fits your theme, but also maybe "I Resolve" from She Loves Me. the character Ilona sings it when she realizes that she's sick of being used by men.
