the weather is finally getting back to tolerable around here, i'm quite happy

My family life is crazy right now and I'm tired and sad and kind of lonely. =/

I'm quitting my job.

But it's a good thing. The job isn't actually a bad job, but it's 30 minutes away and gas is so expensive. I end up using an hour and a half of work a day to pay for gas. Also, it's food service and they promised me fulltime but I've been getting off 2 1/2 hours early every day since we all work hard.

Now I have to find a job in town.

Gas prices are killing me. And in a city with a really awful public transportation system, I really have no choice but to drive. I remember when $20 filled up my tank. Now, it takes almost triple that to fill up. Ridiculous.

I know! It sucks!

But we generally only fill up every 3 weeks, so ~$70 buckets per 3 weeks isn't too bad. Still, more than $3 a day, even on days we don't drive!

Good luck on your job search. I've been looking for a new one as well. I actually had an interview about three weeks ago, but the process takes a long time. If I get it I will be VERY excited, but my current job is so taxing and frustrating.....Ugh. It's in food service too and it just grains on you, you know?

i just got my first real actual part with lines.
and it took a hell of a long time to get there.. i had so many self confidence issues (i used to have a speech impediment) and i am finally here.

and its a real part.. and its not a school musical!!

I'm depressed. It's so hard when a friend is going through such a difficult time and there's nothing you can do to make it better.

Amen! We have a few Equity members at the theatre I'm working with right now, so we observe Mondays off.

A bunch of ppl. from that theatre are going to Six Flags 'cause we don't have a performance or rehearsal today. I want to go soooooo badly just to spend time with my friends, but I've sworn off Six Flags since a girl got her feet chopped off at a ride there. They're going to that particular one, too.

So at my birthday get-together with my family, I was sitting on the floor with my guinea pig and my three year old cousin (cuz she loves the pig and asks me to get her out every time she's here) I look away for one second, and when I look back, my cousin is pulling my pig's nose hair up and trying to shove her sippy cup of pop into the pig's mouth (which might as well be called death juice for a guinea pig) saying "Drink some!...Use your big girl cup!" The funny thing is that pig was just sitting there and you could tell she was thinking "WTH is this kid doing?" ; she didnt squeal or anything... She's so laid back and trusting, it's gonna be the death if her.

She's homeschooled now, she has daily physical and emotional pain. A bone is growing out of her leg, putting her in tremendous pain. She's suing (sp?) Six Flags and now the girls who were with her are, too.

Poor thing...

Good for them for suing Six Flags, though. I've heard of quite a few accidents there, and I think it's time something's done about it.

An agent wants to sign me... if I get new headshots. They say they can't submit the ones I got cuz they don't look like me.

But MaryMag is completely out of money. Like honestly. She has no real money. Just a credit card. And she's already put a few hundred dollars on that credit card.

What does she do? Put a few hundred dollars more on the credit card and get new headshots so she can have an agent?

Life sucks. MM has never been this broke.

Can you find someone cheaper to do it? Like a photography student or something? I got ones a year ago that turned out really good, and they only cost me $25. I know what you mean about the money. I'm going to have to break into my savings account to pay off my credit card this month, and there's already probably not even enough in there for one more semester... and I have four to go.

I hate not being able to have a job this summer!


That said, I will be leaving for the UK in two days!

My brother in law also has a fantastic camera and isn't a bad photographer. But I'm getting past the point where I can get by with on-the-cheap headshots. They just still don't have that industry look. Even when I got them taken by a reputable photographer, but got them retouched and reproduced on the cheap, they still looked *different* next to everyone else's. I'm getting to the point where my headshot is not keeping up.

But I simply can' afford really good ones. There's a guy who does very mediocre ones for $75 that the agency said I could try. So I'm meeting with him Saturday. Oh please Dear God let them turn out okay... I can't afford anything more than that...

if the agency says you MUST get the headshots done by ONE specific photog, it is a con, and the photog is giving them a kickback.

I have mad sunburn. OWWWWW. Stupid work, making me smile and step-clap in the blazing sun. It's not even an all-over sunburn, it's just on the bridge of my nose, my cheekbones, and my forehead. It hurts so badly. Crying or Very sad

First off: Save EVERYTHING that is a threat (even veiled) against you. If that is Facebook graffitti he drew that on, take a screen shot of it and save it in a word document. You want to make sure you have EVERYTHING saved in a place where he can't delete it. (Which is what people sometimes try to do after they get in trouble...delete everything. You wanna have a backup).

Secondly: Visit the police dept. and be very professional and collected and ask them who you should talk to about an ex-boyfriend who is making threats about you. Explain that he has a history of violent outbursts and psychological problems. They will point you in the right direction as to who to talk to.

Third: Bring all the things you have saved to whomever you are supposed to talk to. Keep in mind they might not be able to do anything at the moment, but they will tell you EXACTLY what to do if and when it escalates. Even if they can't do anything for you, what you have done is established a connection with someone on the police force, and that way if God forbid he tries something sketchy, they are on your side and know that he was threatening you before.

My cousin's ex-boyfriend stalked her and tried to attack her about 2 years ago. She went through hell and she explained everything to me, in case it ever happened to me, or so I could tell my friends.

Hang in there hon, and please be safe.

Also, this is a HUGE thing: NEVER go somewhere without telling someone where you're going and when you will be back. Just call a friend and say, "Hey, I'm going to work and I should be back around ___ PM. If I'm later than that call and check up on me, kay?"

I don't say any of this to scare you, so sorry if I did! It's just super important to me and I want you to feel confident and have this creepy dude in check.

Excellent advice - all of it. I would only add that you should have someone you trust (preferably someone who looks tough) accompany you whenever you can. Also keep doors locked where you live and where you babysit.

He DOES have a new girlfriend. And he still does things like this.

And I'm worried about what will happen when I get a new boyfriend. Any time a guy friends me on Facebook, he friends them too, even if he doesn't know them.

I passed out at the doctor's today. It was so weird--it's never happened to me. I'm usually fine when they draw blood, but it took this lady a few tries and I guess it was just too much.

In any case, it was fairly embarrassing.

So I went to visit the White House this morning. Our neighbor is part of the presidential Secret Service detail, so we got a private tour; it was actually pretty cool, but I'd hate to live in such a fancy place.

When we got home, there was a message from my grandmother - my grandfather's in the hospital. He was complaining of chest pain, and my grandma brought him in last night because she thought he had a heart attack.

He was doing well last night, then this morning he had to be put on oxygen. Apparently he feels fine now, but the doctors don't really know what's wrong with him, so they're keeping him in the hospital tonight as well.

I might be flying to Boston soon to be with her; we'll see what happens...

The agency didn't say I had to get them done by him. They said I could get them done by anyone. They just suggested him when I said I couldn't afford new headshots.

I know they are a reputable agency. I did my research. Wink

And still searching for grad schools. My mind is confuzzled and spinning in circles trying to remember all the programs.

Yay, in the Heights is waiting for me at the library! I really wasn't impressed with its Tony performance but it won so many awards so there has to be something better on the CD than what they showed.

I remade an exam today, because I was sick last week. Only me and another chick in the room.. Found out later she had chicken pox last week so that's why she was in the makeup room.. EEEK!

I thought adults didn't get chicken pox Confused Or when they do they're like out of it for ages cos it gets inside? Anyway. I got it as a kid. And I'm fit and healthy. And she's probably not infectious anymore.. But ewww.
