Quick Help

Here's my dilemma; at the end of January, I have an Equity audition for a bunch of casting directors in DC and I'm only 16, Bass/Baritone, and I just can't find a song to show off my voice yet! They're all either too old or too high. I can play as old as 18, and as young as 14, but I can't find a song, can anyone help me out? Sorry to bug, but the audition is coming soon and I'm having a ton of trouble.
Thanks again!
Joshua

Well, you could try one of Sweeney's songs from Sweeney Todd. Those are your range and impressive. Just don't do a gross one.

I think those fall under the "too old" heading if he can only play up to 18.

Well, he doesn't have to play them as Sweeney. He could play just sing them to show off his voice. And being as desperate as he is...

Sweeny's songs are perfect for my range (Low D to High F), so I did look at his songs, but my voice just isn't mature enough. Thanks for that suggestion. I might look at Metaphor from The Fantasticks.

A lot of Sweeney's songs are overdone and probably inappropriate unless you're auditioning for another Sondheim show, which begs the question, what are you auditioning for?

It's not for sure yet because you don't sign up until the 14th to audition, but it's an audition for a bunch of casting directors in DC, so I figured I'd do a song and a monologue. I'm probably going to work on Metaphor from the Fantasticks for the next few weeks unless I find something better soon.

I'm not really sure if this is a good audition song, but I think it's in the range...
"Try Me" from She Loves Me (Arpad, the delivery boy sings it, he is supposed to be 16-18 or so)
You can hear a clip here:

I think the song is in the piano book and you could probably find it at musicnotes.com or some music download site.

??? sorry that's all I got.
