QUESTION: Which song do you always skip?

QUESTION to everyone! Smile

List up to (but no more than) 5 songs (and musicals soundtrack they belong to) which you always skip past when listening to the soundtrack CD/MP3 Playlist of a particular show!

Ok, I'll change "The Sacred Bird" to um....
"Look Down" of Les Miz fame.

I don't really enjoy listening into any of the Engineer's songs. Although he is added for comic relief, I think he's just very unnessecary and annoying. Not to mention a bit disgusting. Also, "The American Dream" is way too long.

1. Barber's Song -- Man of La Mancha
2. All I care about -- Chicago
3. Alas for you -- Godspell
4. Matchmaker -- Fiddler on the Roof
5. I have written a play -- On the Twentieth Century
6. Contact -- Rent (Just an awkward song)

HHMH is the worst song in the score sadly

Like Ziz (Andre and Muriel bring the plot to a screeching halt, just like Leo Bloom and Ulla do in That Face)
Ulla Dance Again!

Aw, but "That Face" is an adorable song.

I sometimes skip over "So What?", "Why Should I Wake Up?", "Married", and "It Couldn't Please Me More" on my Cabaret recordings. Not because they're terrible songs, I just don't feel like listening to them at times.
Queenie-chan

1) "Dancing Through Life" - Wicked
2) "Raise The Roof" - The Wild Party (Lippa)
3) "Tick Tock" - Company OCR
4) "A Real Nice Clambake" - Carousel

Heaven Help my heart is one of the shows best.

prolly the worst songs in Chess are You and I,the original version of No Deal and the all time topper..Merano!!! thnak god most peroductions skip merano.

as for Like Ziz..its one of the high pointsi n the score. its delightfil..especially when ythe great Joanna Gleason aces the song with Greg Jbara.

Love is my legs is prolly the weakest number in DRS.
Webster

I actually like merano. I wake up to merano every morning!

1. Quiet from Candide
2. Liaisons from A Little Night Music (I like the song, but i just can't wait for In Paise of Women)
3. I Landed On Him from Floyd Collins (Scares the sh*t out of me)

1- Something Bad - Wicked
2- Dames - 42nd Street
3- Maison des Lunes - BATB
4- A Little Bit of Good - Chicago
5- Stay With Me - Into the Woods

Anyone have the London recording of ITW? Yeah, that INSANE scream at the beginning of Stay With Me almost made me urinate on myself the first time I heard it. I really can't listen to it.
Skip2MyLiu33

1) The Morning Report--The Lion King
2) Santa Fe--RENT
3) Good Morning--Singin' in the Rain (yes, it's a classic, but its cheerfulness destroys me

Sweeney Hyde

I don't know if I said this or not yet but I always skip over Green Finch and Linnet Bird in Sweeney Todd...Sometimes the Judges Song too.
morphine_tango

I would have to say:

A Sentimental Man - Wicked (What's up with this song? Everyone seems to skip it...)
Castle On A Cloud - Les Misérables (It's been worn out)
Your Eyes - Rent
Random Number Genereation - Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Contest - Sweeney Todd (almost always)
PappyCat

I ALWAYS skipped "Very Soft Shoes" when listening to my Once Upon a Mattress recording. I didn't even know how it went until our Jester performed it.

And I always skip "I know Where I've been" when listening to hairspray. Hate that song.
Salome

3. I Know Where I've Been - Hairspray
4. Poor Jud is Dead - Oklahoma
5. More Than I Am - Little Women
broadwaybelle22

1."The Mob Song" and "The Battle" from Beauty and the Beast. They can be kind of boring
2."As Long As You're Mine from Wicked.
3."Enchantment passing though" from Aida.
4."Your Eyes" from Rent
5."Dog Eats Dog" from Les Mis. That song just terrifies me. Especially since I always have my cd turned up SUPER loud during Bring Him Home, and then I hate to hear that creepy music after. It shocks me.

Thank you. Finally someone else agrees with me about "Dog Eat Dog". I find it half terrifying, and half just really boring. I think the only time I ever listened to it all the way through was when I saw the show. I sat there through the entire song thinking: "Oh, so that's how that song goes..."
broadwaybelle22

^I guess we're kindred spririts! When I was little my dad never used to let me listen to that song, so I never really did after that. I just associated it with being scary.
Eponine93

You'd think he wouldn't let you listen to Lovely Ladies...

I usually also skip Master of the House because whenever I listen to it, it's stuck in my head for days afterward.

1.) My Junk- Spring Awakening

2.) Wonderful- Wicked

You skip "Wonderful" in Wicked??? If you like Broadway musicals so much, why would you skip the most traditional song in a pop score? "Wonderful" is the only song in Wicked that combines witty lyrics, an honest and funny message, true characterization of the Wizard as well as a brilliant performance by Joel Gray.

Do you think if I told you Idina sounds the best she ever does on that recording during the song "Wonderful" you would listen to it?

LittleGavroche

1. "Over the Moon" - RENT
2. Well, I used to skip "Beggars at the Feast" until I was in Les Miz and had an amazing Thernadier who made it absolutely hilarious, now, I flip right over "Dog Eat Dog."
3. "Molasses to Rum" - 1776. It's an ingenious song, but I always get a visual when I listen to it, and the very first time I saw the film I was utterly terrified. And it makes me a bit sick to my stomach to think about the horror his in America's past. Embarassed
4. "I Want to Row On the Crew" - Anything Goes
5. "Perfectly Nice" - Jane Eyre
Salome

because Molasses to Rum is SUPOSSED vto conjur up those images. you cant have 1776 without that amazing number.
dont tell me you also skip John Cullum performing it in the film??? its one of the finest musical moments set to celuliod.

No, no, of course not. No need to jump on me, for I did say I understand the genius of the song. I understand the purpose of the song quite well, I do not debate that it's an amazing song, but it's a song I have to be in the mood for.
HarmonicSoul

Some of what I mention I don't actually own a cast recording of, but if I had the choice, I would probably skip it while I was watching the musical.

1. "Poor Jud is Dead" in Oklahoma
2. "Over the Moon" in RENT
3. "Dog Eats Dog" in Les Miserables
4. "Masquerade" in The Phantom of the Opera
5. "We Beseech Thee" in Godspell (but that is mostly because of when we did a production of it, the soloist--a girl that the majority of the cast wasn't fond of--couldn't sing it in it's original key, so they had to make it lower; the chorus sounded much better in the original)
Soulful

Masquerade - PotO
The Sewers (Dog eats dog) - Les Miserables
A Sentimental Man - Wicked
Santa Fe - RENT
The Dance at the Gym - WSS

Can't think of any more... but I'm sure there are lots.

I think American Dream is good to watch when you're right there in the theatre, but I really dont like listening to it on the soundtrack. What do you think is the other good song?

I've only seen the film version of The Sound of Music, so I don't really care if you think I'm -----. I live in country Victoria... don't exactly have the luxuary of seeing professional theatre too often.

Salome, what do you think the other good song in Miss Saigon is?

American dream has some of the shows only great lyrics. its a wonderful song.

Maybe This Time has no business being in the show. it was written for a liza concert 2 years before the film version of Cabaret. plus liza sucked as Sally.

Natasha owns the role..sexy,brilliant, lots of emotional layers.

Liza was just flat.
