Question about pirelli

Hello, I would like to know more about the character of Pirelli. What are his characteristics, how should a person interpret him etc??
Thanks
Salome

interpretation is up to th actor, base on the director's vision oft he text. ask your director.

He is commonly played as a very very very stereotypical Italian, heavy fake accent and all. He is also usually played a stuckup. Basicly often the audience wants him to be killed because he is obnoxious.

This is one time when I don't mind a very stereotyped, over-the-top of Italian accents and mannerisms since it's all an act on Pirelli's part...he's a phony and I like some over-the-top parody in the part. And he's a name-dropper with the whole claim about shaving the Pope.

I wonder how it would work, though, if someone tried to build a bit of sympathy for him...that he's a liar and a fraud...no better than Mrs. Lovett...just because he's trying to survive in a hard world.

Do any of you know the highest note he hits in his song??

Plus, Pirelli isn't actually Italian, he's Irish.

pirelli hits tenor high c - on a number of occasions, interesting that he holds it as he dies and it becomes more of a scream

Steve
TychoBrahe

Either that or immediate silence since Todd is cutting off his oxygen.

do any of you have a copy of the sheet of music of "The Contest"??

And also at the end of the show during the final ballad, is there a specific way the part of pirelli should be sang?? perhaps falsetto or what??
Thanks!
