Production PicturesI've noticed no one on here has shared pictures of their productions...maybe I am simply missing the threads...but here are some from mine-mind you it was a fairly low budget production (we had a field day about some of the backdrops lol) and I played Sister Berthe. (also keep in mind that the children all had an average age of.....14...except for Gretl who was 9 and Liesll actually was 16 going on 17 lol)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Vontrapps_SOM.jpg Von Trapp children singing The Sound of Music in the "garden" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Vontrapp_Losers.jpg Von Trapp children in the scene before the party http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Steve_Lynds_Ryan.jpg No Way To Stop It- Max, The Baroness and The Captain http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Steve_and_Lyndsey.jpg Max and the Baroness http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Steve_and_Ian.jpg Max and Rolf http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/SLFB_1.jpg Von Trapp Children-So Long FareWell http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/SLF_2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/SLF_1.jpg -performing So Long Farewell at the Festival http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Sandy_Steve_and_Susan.jpg Sister Margaretta and Max http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Sandy_and_nightie.jpg Sister Margaretta--with the "negligee" from the scene where the nuns help Maria pack her trunk for after the wedding http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Ryan_Lynds_Steve_ball.jpg Captain and Max and The Baroness http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Ryan_and_Linds.jpg Captain and Maria in the Garden http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Rachel_Ian_Kiss.jpg Rolf and Liesl kiss http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Rachel_and_Jayme_SLF.jpg Von Trapp kids, so long, farewell http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Goatherd2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Goatherd.jpg Lonely Goatherd http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Andrea_Mike_Becca-Ya_ya.jpg ...the Trio...the ones that win I think 2nd or 3rd place at the Festival http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Edelweiss.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Edelweiss_3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Edelweiss_2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Edelweiss_1.jpg --Edelweiss http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/DivaKate5420/Do_Re_Mi_2.jpg Singing at the Festival |

aww! It looks good! I've always wanted to be in SOM and for some reason I've always wanted to be Gretl, I think I'm a little too old though.
haha I love the Von Trapp kids outfits! So cute! |

Well, not much action in this topic but I thought I'd add anyhow. Here's the link to my SoM gallery - from my April 2006 production. I played Liesl and it was fabulously awesome. Yes indeedy.
ANYHOO. The link: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v30/Kitness/The%20Sound%20of%20Music%202006/ |

I love all the costumes (especially the trio) and your sets are fine, MsDivaKate. Oh, and don't worry about the kids. When I did SoM, the median age for the WHOLE cast was 14.
Kitness, I love all your sets--especially the gazebo. Periaktoi seem to be popular to use in SoM. |

Thank you! My wee brother built the sets, so yay, glad you like them |

Re: Production PicturesHow come there are no pics of you? Or the staging of "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" There's nothing like a nun in a habit! Now to be fair: The classic "Maria and Kids" pic: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/SOM2004.jpg A Poorly Posed "Lonely Goatherd" Press Pic: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/SOM2.jpg Climb Every Mountain...: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/SOM3.jpg Maria Returns! jazzygirl you guys look awesome (which one are you?). Were you professional? Semi-professional? Because your sets and costumes are fabulous.
| musikal_geek |
I don't have any of the actual production, because it was professional, so I think that would be illegal. But I've got a bundle of pics from backstage that shows the costumes. I wish I could show you the set, it was flippin' unbelievable!! Anyways, I was Kurt's understudy, so they added me as a street kid in Confidence and an altar boy in the wedding. There was another girl understudying and she was those two parts with me. She understudied Marta & Brigitta. The other understudies for the children looked old enough to be in the party, etc.
Oh, and we alternated Gretl's between performances, because it would be hard to get a six-year old to do eight shows a week, fifty performances in one month and two weeks. ANYWAYS....the pictures: Here is a lot of people: Back row (L to R) - Capt. von Trapp, Max, Soldier, Maria, Fredriech (sp?). Front row (L to R) - Louisa, Kurt (I dunno what the hell he's doing!) Marta, Brigitta, Gretl, Leisl's bottom half, Altar Boy (me) http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/ThevonTrappsUncleMaxasoldierMe.jpg These are some of the von Trapp children in the clothes that Maria made them. Back row (L to R): Fredriech, Maria, Louisa. Front row (L to R): Marta, Kurt, Gretl http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/ThevonTrappshome-madeclotheswithMar.jpg The von Trapp children in their wedding outfits. Back row (L to R): Hairdresser, Louisa, Leisl, Fredriech. Middle Row (L to R): Brigitta, Kurt, Marta. Front row: Gretl (the cuter one http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/ThevonTrappweddingoutfits.jpg The nuns. Mother Abbess is in the back row in the Center (the one without a hat). Leisl is also in there as a nun, she is in the back row, on the far right-hand side. The one next to Leisl also played Frau Schmidt. The one in the back row, on the far left-hand side (with the glasses) also played the Baroness. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/Thenuns.jpg The Mother Abbess. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/TheMotherAbbess.jpg The Baroness & Frau Schmidt (Frau also played Berthe). It's a weird combination of characters, but oh well. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/TheBaronessFrauSchmidt.jpg This is the cuter Gretl backstage. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/Sara.jpg Rolf and Leisl (out of costume, of course): http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/RyanVanessa.jpg These are the two street kids (I'm the boy -- remember, this production was about four years ago now!) http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/MirandaMe.jpg Maria in her Wedding Gown (she had to change in, like a minute into this thing). http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/MariasWeddingGown.jpg This is Brigitta & Marta backstage. I don't know what they're doing with their shirts, and I don't really want to know... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f300/luc999/MalloryEmma.jpg Sorry there's none of the set and the live-action, but there's a glimpse at my production, anyways. I hope you liked them! |

| jazzygirlsings |
Thanks! The sets all moved pretty easily, too...though it doesn't look like it! LOL! The huge "stone" arches were on wheels...it made transitions SUPER smooth! And our costumer was such a sweetie! Her and I would play minigolf on our days off! LOL! She would be happy to hear that you liked the costumes, as our FABULOUS director clashed with her and wanted them to be even BETTER! I'm not sure what your definition of professional is, but it was a regional summerstock production that had some Equity contracts. (I'm non-Eq, BTW)...I was Maria. |
||
| musikal_geek |
You look like Kate Todd.
| jazzygirlsings |
^I'll take that as a compliment! Thank you!
She's pretty, but I'm sure she wears a size 2...and I don't! LOL! Your pics are great, too, BTW! It looks like you had a lot of fun! |
||
| musikal_geek |
You should most definitely take that as a compliment!! Our production rocked. We were all so tight by the end of it. I bawled at the end of the last show. In fact, I bawled onstage, during the curtain call. Yup, that's me. Sappy. |
||
| jazzygirlsings |
^I did that at the end of my first run of SOM with a different company. We did that show for 7 months, I think...yeah...7 months!
The show I have pics of was okay, but it was so short because it was stock...two weeks to rehearse, two to perform! It's never long enough! |
||
| Kitness |
Oh gosh, I was a WRECK our closing night. I cried during Edelweiss, then again in the graveyard scene and then during the curtain call. I was such a disaster. All my stage siblings were looking at me like I was nuts. The freaking eight-year-olds held up better than I did! jazzygirl - I'm hardcore community theatre so pretty much anything that has contracted actors is more professional them us. Half of our costumes came from raiding the local Value Village. Heh. |
||
| jazzygirlsings |
^I forgot to mention how much I LOVED your pics!
You know how you can look at certain snapshots from a performance and you can just tell when someone's a good actor? That was how I felt when I saw the pics of you in action! And I like the white window set piece that you guys had! There were so many interesting pics that it got me excited to do SOM again! I've done this show in two different productions and you know what? I would do it again! LOL! |
||
| Kitness |
Wow, thank you When my show closed I very nearly auditioned for another SoM production right away (with the intention of auditioning for Maria instead of Liesl this time as not many places are willing to cast someone as old as me to play Liesl). I decided to do 42nd Street instead, but I still kind of wish I'd tried for SoM again |
||
| musikal_geek |
I would do this show again in a heartbeat.
| Kitness |
^ I think it's one of those shows you don't really get sick of doing. Our Mother Abbess had played the role twice before she did my production and Our Sister Margaretta had played Sister Sophia before.
Also, incase anyone was curious, I have some video clips from my production, on my YouTube channel. They're here: Http://www.youtube.com/user/Megfly |

Lovely photos.
Exactly what I was thinking. The photos are not cheesy, they tell it like it is, so well done to your photographer. Brilliant.

^It's so easy to make photos from SOM look cheesy...(See also-badly posed Lonely Goatherd pic in my pics! LOL!)
| Baker |
I love all the pics!
It seems like the worst mistakes for Sound of Music costumes are made with the Baroness... Here are my pictures: http://drothhaar.smugmug.com/gallery/48467 I was Friedrich. And since it seems to be semi-popular to list the actual ages of the kids: Liesl - college... probably about 19/20 Friedrich - 13 Louisa - 11 Kurt - 11 Brigitta - 9 Marta - 11 Gretl - 6 I think |
||
| Kitness |
^ I loved our Baroness' costumes - I'm not sure that they were "period" per say, but she had an odd body type and was really hard to fit and she felt so pretty in her costumes that it was great to see.
Just for fun, the ages of my kids: Liesl (me!) - 21 Friedrich - 12 Louisa - 13 Kurt - 12 Brigitta - 12 Marta - 8 Gretl - 8 |

Baker, awesome sets!
I've done SoM three times (and still no pics for you). It would take a lot of convincing to get me to perform in it, but I would love to direct a dark, sort of Brechtian production, having the actors play the instruments and projecting images of the holocaust. |

I was in this show at my high school when I was a freshman. I played Kurt (don't worry I was 4'11" then, so I looked the part. Here were our ages:
Liesl: 14 Freidrich: 14 Luisa: 16 Kurt: 14 Brigitta: 16 Marta: 10 Gretl: 9 I know that the ages are kind of all over the place, but the heights for the kids were correct, as in we went from smallest (Gretl) to tallest (Liesl). |
||
| what_the_heck013 |
Our kids were:
Liesl-15 Rolf (me)-14 Friedrich-15 Luisa-13 Brigitta-14 Marta-12 Gretl-7 |
||
| musikal_geek |
Liesl: 27 (she looked younger, didn't she!)
Fredriech: 14 Louisa: 15 Kurt: 11 Brigitta: 13 Marta: 11 Gretls: 6 & 8 |
