PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: the new Broadway aimed musical

The Rochester driven musical adaptation of Pride and Prejudice will have a concert tonight, according to Playbill.

Andrew Gans wrote:
Pride & Prejudice, A Musical Play features a 17-piece orchestra and a cast filled with Broadway actors, including Colin Donnell... as Mr. Darcy and... actress Donna Lynne Champlin as Jane Austen.

The cast also boasts Laura Osnes... as Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet, Juliana Ashley Hansen as Jane Bennet, Mark Blum and Patty Goble as the parents of the five Bennet daughters, Anne Letscher as Mary Bennet, Molly Ranson as Kitty Bennet, Jacque Carnahan as Lydia Bennet, Jim Stanek as Mr. Collins, John Behlmann as Mr. Wickham, Rory O'Malley as Charles Bingley and Jennifer Waiser as Charlotte Lucas. (Patty Goble also plays the role of Lady Catherine.)

Is anyone going? Anyone heard any of the score?

Can they do all do convincing British (not just the accents)?

A musical version of this was done years ago in the UK, my friend was in it as Mrs Bennett.

I hope they can do convincing accents. Otherwise, it won't have that Jane Austen 'flavor' it has when you see in the movies or something like that.

I hope that it isn't a crappy pop musical like Jane Eyre or Tale of Two Cities!!!

It would be interesting to see Adam Guettel make a musical of it.

Beautiful story, but with all the adaptions in the last few years... can you say OVERKILL??

There is nothing "pop" about Jane Eyre... what were you listening to?
Although there are two versions, the Broadway Paul Gordon one and some other random version.

As for Pride and Prejudice... ehh... I LOVE the book and BBC movie so much I just don't know if a musical would do it justice. I saw a play version a few years ago and it was really dull, as they only had one set and also a part in front they used for different outdoor scenes. But it didn't reall work, turning it into a drawing room play.
BUT- a large scale production might be ok. Depends on the music/lyrics. I'd love to hear it.

I LOVE pride and prejudice! But I cant really picture Laura Osnes as Lizzy, though... I like her, but she seems a little too girly and vulnerable

I'd like to see Sutton Foster as Elizabeth. Or Coleen Sexton.
