Presentaion of Myself, and the Cats Production I'm in!

Hi everybody,

I tell you right now, I speak french and I'm from Quebec City, Canada, so my english is really not the best!

I'm new on that forum and it look great. I'm a huge Cats fan and this forum is the best place for me to be in!

I'll play in April in a amateur production of Cats. Our high school is known in the region as the best for amateur musical. Our production cost 65,000$ and we'll play in a 1,200 seats place called Salle Albert-Rousseau two nights. We are more than 50 comedians on the scene, something I rarely see in a Cats production. I play the role of Munkustrap and I love it! We play both Pekes and Pollicles and Growltiger Last Stand, something who don't happen a lot in productions.
The main problem (which is not so serious) is the fact that we are only 5 boys in the production...
The male role that we'll be play by man are : Munkutrap (me), Rum Tum Tugger, Old Deuteronomy (the guy also play Growltiger), Mungojerrie, Bustopher Jones (the guy also play Macavity).
Skimbleshanks, Quaxo/Mistoffelees, Alonzo, Gus/Asparagus, Rumpus Cat, Admetus, etc. are played by girl, but they are really good...

That's it...Thank you to understand the fact that I'm not totally bilingual.

Congratulations! I played Munkustrap last year (obviously) and it was the most amazing part I have ever played. Have fun, its a great show!

Which Munkustrap song is your favorite?

Well I really like them all, but we didnt do Pekes and the Pollicles, which was too bad. I guess it would be Old Deuteronomy.

Bienvenue Smile

I used to be bilingual, but the years of only speaking English and not getting to practice my French have gotten to me...and now I'm in Italy where it's a whole nother language to learn.

Hope you enjoy playing Munk Smile by far the best character ever (yes...I'm biased)

Is your production going to be done in English or French? I would love to hear CATS translated into French sometime.

Actually they had a French production in the late 80's to early 90's in Paris. Misto06 was in it as Mistoffelees, he has the full show as video clips on his website.

Congratulations on getting to play Munkustrap!

I did a community theatre production a few summers ago and we only had four men- Rum Tum Tugger, Gus, Bustopher Jones, and Old Deuteronomy; and Macavity and Mistoffelees were teenage boys. Our Munkustrap was a woman which made the vocals really strange at times. I really loved being a part of this show because there are so many roles that almost everyone gets to show their stuff. Plus Demeter is a fantastic role. Very Happy

We're gonna do it in English!

I was watching the cd in a Toronto musical shop and there was the Cats Original French Cast album. This is the name I remember :
Rum Tum Tugger : Rocky Tam-Tam
Jennyanydots : Amélie Ron-Ron
Jellicle : Jalupattes
Old Deuteronomy : Vieux Matusalem
Growltiger : Matamor
Heaviside Layer : Félinosphère

I asked to the guy of the shop to heard the cd and it sounds really weird...
I prefer the english version!!

Being french myself, I couldn't imagine the show in french! It's seems.... interesting....

Do you know if the music is the same?
MunkustrapQC

Yes the music is exactly the same...

It's really weird!

Le Rocky Tam-Tam est un chat mystérieux! Dancing

Sorry guys, I didn't want to ignore you! I'll try to talk in english for now on, but I couldn't hold myself back! It's so exciting to have someone else who's french on the boards! Very Happy
