My school might be doing this for our musical

You all on this board seem to love it, but based off the 1956-ish movie I don't understand its appeal. I know a lot of musicals are drastically changed from the stage play (Little shop happy ending ring a bell?) but this seems pretty boring to me

Well, the music is beautiful. I can't compare to the movie - I haven't seen it. Personally, I feel the story is dated and the book is a bit long, so it isn't my favorite show of all time. But I'd probably see it for the music.

I'm not sure what question you're really asking, or how you're coming by the opinion that everyone on this board loves the show.

its a brilliant show. the film castrates all the guts thoufgh. it ignores the wife beating..it changes billy's suicide to an accidental death...it cuts 3 songs asnd trims 4 others down. the film is miscast except mr. snow ,Jiggerand carrie.
