Please Help

Hello,

I have auditions at the end of the month for this show. I need help finding audition songs... an uptempo and a ballad. It's not for any particular part... just open auditions. Can anyone help out with good songs for auditions for this show? I am a Soprano and can sing "in the rafters" but for auditions I usually like a med/high song, and I'm 16 years old. Thanks in advance!

Although you aren't gearing your audition towards a particular role, I would. Since you are sixteen, I think you would make a good Zaneeta. Perhaps the overly done "Much More" from The Fantasticks or "Sixteen going on Seventeen" from The Sound of Music.

As much as I do love the song, I'm not sure "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" is a great choice. It pretty much pigeonholes you as the romantic lead, and doesn't even give the director the option of seeing you as anything else. There's nothing wrong with going out for the lead, but if you don't get her, you should try to give yourself a fair chance at one of the other roles. Just my opinion.

I'd recommend "The Gentleman is a Dope" from Allegro for your up-tempo. It's a bit low, but really funny. A good character piece if you're going for Zaneeta. For your ballad, what about something from Beauty and the Beast? (I'm thinking "Home" or "A Change in Me", not the stuff from the movie.) Since you're 16, Zaneeta is probably the part you want to go for, so pick something that will show your comedic abilities. It's a funny role.

what about " I can't say no" from Oklahoma? It's a fun song, and very zaneeta i feel!
