Please Ban Me/My Final Goodbye

I have not been on here very much in the past year. I have greatly changed in that year. I no longer wish to be affiliated with this forum. As such I request that the moderators ban me.

That said there are some things I want to say: Most of you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

A vast majority of you are completely incompetent and lack any real knowledge of what you are talking about.

For some reason there is an air of superiority to many of the active members here that they somehow know more and/or are better than other people due to their presence and "popularity" here. This is absolutely false and pathetic.

All that said there are still a few people on here that I still care about... and others that I have a thing or two to say about:

Matthew - I don't know what happened between us to cause you to not talk to me anymore. Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. But at one point in time we shared a great friendship (as far as online friendships go). If at any time you wish I know you have the resources and know-how (we did find out Sondheim's address, after all) to re-establish contact. I would, indeed, love to hear from you. If not, goodbye old friend.
Salome - Get over yourself and grow up.
Beagle - Shut up. If you knew how many people actually like you on here that you think you trust you would contemplate throwing yourself off of the nearest tall building. You are talked about behind your back constantly.
Luc - I like you. We still talk. I'll talk to you later, probably. Smile
Koza - You're a doll. I know you'll keep in touch.
Quique - Same as the above two... I'll let you know when I get Javert. Mr. Green
Lyss - You are [Mod edit - don't insult other members].

To the rest of you: I wish you the best and hope you are able to realize that this place isn't the end all for theatrical authority... FAR FAR FAR from it.

I'm only telling you all of these things because I hate how fake people can be and I wanted to just be honest.

This is not the sort of farewell I ever pictured myself writing but not every moment in life can be as perfect as we hope. This is simple. I like simple of late.

Anyone else that wishes to contact me can ask around.

I joined this forum hoping to learn. At one point in time I did. But I have moved on... I know when I need to do this most of the time... I think I'm a little late in leaving here actually.

So goodbye, everyone. I wish you a fond farewell. Go and be happy and true to yourself.

Sweeney Hyde

Probably not the best way to leave...
Even so, goodbye. You will be missed.
random_person

While I don't think we have ever communicated, judging by how prolific you must have been from your stars and how others have mentioned you in high regard, I suppose I should also fare you well.
The Very Angry Woman

You should go with pride.
You've been the best looking dude we've had all day.

I hope you feel as bad-ass as you hoped when you thought of this idea.

Yay! I wasn't on the list!
Dude I'm sad to see you go! People can get into really heated debates on here or say stupid things and you may notice there's times when I just decide not to post anything for months. I don't think you should ban yourself. Just observe casually and if nothing interests you enough to chime in on, then check back at a later time.
Matthew

I approve of this thread.
Brother Marvin Hinten, S.

While a lot of what you said is basically true, your departure did not necessarily require you to burn every bridge you had left in the process. If ever you should rethink your decision to leave, it'll be interesting to watch you come back and try to pretend none of this was said or at least meant.

**** YOU SWEENEY!!!
Seriously you are a [mod edit - don't swear, please] and I'm glad you're leaving. You have some nerve calling people out like that especially when you have no idea what you're talking about. Calling me dumb? For real?! Because you have talked to me so much that you have such a great understanding of my intelligence. I have been nothing but nice to you and I'm pretty damn offended that I'm basically the only one you called out in a negative context besides Beagle and Dawn.
SERIOUSLY GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOU ASS.

YOU.

No one likes you anyways. Go choke on a and come out of the closet. BYEEE!

Seriously? Does one person calling you "unintelligent" on the internet really deserve a major flip-out?

As a wise person said at a reading last night, "Oh, you typed something mean about me, then clicked a little button."

I hope there's a video of that. His hilarious delivery still echoes in my mind.

But anyway, I am sorry that you feel the need to leave.

Good riddance.

Long-winded raging "goodbye threads" are never a good idea. Always ends poorly.
Patch

The best thing that could've happened to this thread was that it remained unlocked and NOBODY posted in it! He wanted folks to read and get all pissy and then retaliate...if people had just left this lone post of his here to fester it would've killed him.

As it is he's probably checking in from time to time just to see the anger and havoc he caused. You played his game and he won.

I may not have been here for very long but I have to say, who the hell do you think you are? Frankly, how you can go on about an air of superiority is beyond me. If you wanted to leave, do it quietly, there really was no need to make this thread, and publically naming people who you personally don't see eye to eye with here is just petty.

And whats with the whole "The vast majority of you are incompetent" thats just ridiculous! This is a message board for the DISCUSSION of musical theatre, its all about personal opinion, something that we are all entitled to.

Bye Sweeney Hyde.
Bare Fan

sorry? I'm just expressing my views, I personally find it really quite rude that someone would post something like that on a public message board, I mean sure, have your personal opinion about people but I don't really think there was any need for them to write it publicly, especially when it gets so personal like that.

I don't want to offend anyone but I just don't agree with what they did here.

Possibly because nobody has blue-carded it for a moderator's attention.
Or the moderators have all been busy doing non-MDN-related activities, and haven't picked up on the blue-card reports yet.

Actually, although Sweeney's post was mildly offensive, your own obscenity-sprinkled responses were by far the most unpleasant part of this thread.
Your posts are the only responses I've had to edit as clear breaches of the MDN posting rules. So, unless you're going to unleash another volley of insults, Lyss, there's no need to lock this thread.
idTAPthat89

Mildly offensive?? He basically told Beagle to go kill himself and although I'm not even close with Beagle, that was completely uncalled for. This is completely ridiculous that this thread is allowed to still remain up.

I blue-carded a couple.

But people, I think we need to realize is no matter what, a group of people, especially over the protection of the internet, are going to say nasty things.
If you really have that big of a problem with animosity, cancel you're internet service.

There have been personal attacks on me on these threads before.

Beagle, like myself, has weathered far, far nastier and more personal attacks on this site in the past, from a group who did it simply to amuse themselves. I expect he has enough sense of proportion not to bother getting wound up about this very mild unpleasantness from someone who used to be fairly active here. Quite a while ago.

Shall we now leave this and let it sink naturally into oblivion? That's all it merits.

idTAPthat89 wrote:

I completely sympathise with you, but the unfortunate truth is that humanity contains plenty of people willing to act in the most callous manner and the Internet will always reflect that. I guess what Christina's intending to convey is that even though these situations are unpleasant, one should expect them to occur eventually and be prepared.

The only reason I haven't locked or removed it from the Social forum is that I think it has value in showing younger Forum members that the internet isn't always nice, that people can say stupid and unpleasant things about other people without provocation or justification, and basically, you have to learn to deal with it.

Not so much entertainment as informative.

Not for nothing...but I totally disagree with the above statement. I think the younger folk are already well aware of the level of shmuck that runs rampant on the interwebs. Probably moreso than some older members. Allowing it to remain open appears to do nothing but stoke the fire that the OP (I won't use his name) hoped to create.

This all hilarious!

Why can't people just leave without making a big to-do?

If you are leaving cause you are done with the site and are pissed then just leave.

If you are leaving for a good reason cause you are busy or need to move on then say good bye to those who are meaningful to you and I bet everyone will wish you luck in life and you'll leave on a good note so if you do come back everyone will welcome you with open arms.

Ok children time to pull up our shorts and act like adults!

Oh, I wasn't trying to make a point, and it wasn't even my point. It's just that there are quite a few parallels between that clip and the (often amusing) attitudes of some regulars here.
Ahh. Thank you for clarifying.

Oh, crap, I'm not getting sucked into forum drama, am I?

Seriously? From everything he's posted on here, he seems godawful.

I agree whole-heartedly with most of Sweeney's points in this thread. I also disagree whole-heartedly with a few of them (actually, just the one about Lyss. I still love her). But either way, I'm going to miss his posts. However dramatic the leaving may have been, this thread has created a lot more drama than he could have ever planned, and that's funny. I LOLed.

See ya, Sweeney.

Smile This.

Aww I kind of missed threads like this.

This thread is stupid and ridiculous. Gosh, this whole thing is absurd.

I'm confused... But yeah... Erm...?

I'm agreeing with some of Sweeney's stuff, Luc, Lyss and Patch and fjays on this one.
