Pirates of Penzance: SamuelHi there,
I don't know this show very well at all, but Im hoping to go for the role of Samuel, as it seems relatively simple. For audition Im told to read "pages 3 and 4", but as Samuel only has a few lines, I'm not sure how to deliver these lines, whether Sam should deliver his lines as comedic, dim, normal accented, Cornish accented etc.
Also I think my only singing audition is to sing his parts from O Pour The Pirate Sherry, which is just two verses, any advice on how to deliver these?
We're doing the Broadway version, is Samuel any different in this from the original?
Also any advice on Samuel is most welcome, I know he has a few lines, but he doesnt have a LOT does he? How should he generally be played? If I can get past the audition for him Id like to fine tune the character a bit, but it'll be tricky as I'll have to learn all these new songs too, so your advice is appreciated!
