Picking a Monologue- when given three

The way my school does auditions, they give you a choice of monologues to perform (not memorized) at auditions. Non of which are from the show, Fiddler on the Roof. The only instruction they give is to pick the one you relate to the most. From my experience with them, they see that you can act through the monologues, then type formulate the callback lists from voice and look. Not my favorite type of audition, but nevertheless it is next Thursday.

Here are the monologues we were given (with the character and name of the play above it.)

1- Bonny- What I Did Last Summer
Sometimes I think this play is secretly about me. That’s what I secretly think. Because, for me, this is a crucial summer. All sorts of important things are beginning to happen. My father’s letting me skipper the boat occasionally. And my mother says I can smoke, as long as it’s in front of her. And I’ve got a babysitting job three times a week….And tonight, one of the most crucial things of all might happen. Tonight we might be riding the rollercoaster. It’s called the Cyclone, and on a calm night you can hear it roar, even though the amusement park is over five miles away! Oh, it’s the scariest thing! It’s built right out over the lake, all rickety and shaky, and they say when you climb to the top, you can see all the way to town. And when you start down, it’s so basically terrifying that women have thrown their babies over the side!

2- Catherine- The Man Who Married A Dumb Wife
My dear, we shall have for supper tonight some minced mutton and what’s left of that goose one of your suitors gave us. Tell me, is that enough? Shall you be satisfied with it? I hate to be mean, and like to set a good table, but what’s the use of serving courses which will only be sent back to the pantry untouched? The cost of living is getting higher all the time. Chickens, and salad, and meats, and fruit have all gone up so, it will soon be cheaper to order dinner sent in by a caterer. Yes, that’s what it’s coming to. No home life any more. You’ll see. Why, a capon, or a partridge, or a hare, cost less all stuffed and roasted than if you buy them alive at the market. That is because the cook-shops buy in large quantities and get a big discount so they can sell to us at a profit.

3-Lillian- Songs of Love
Mother, this is the point. You have been put in this home by your loving children because the fact is you can’t take care of yourself any more. Remember the lost checkbooks? Yes. Remember the missed appointments you couldn’t remember you made? Yes. Remember the forgotten house, which you lived for in sixty years and one pretty day couldn’t find?....Yes. And now you want to get married, to upset the practical arrangements so carefully made for you. You are thinking of no one but yourself. What will you do? Take half of your estate from your children and grandchildren and give it to a man you hardly know? Next you’ll want to make a new will, and give it all away! No! You are incompetent, Mother, and you are staying home.

I'm leaning towards the first one, becuase I have very vivd recollections of rollercoasters which I can more easily think of, and its more conversational and relateable than the other two. Also, I've found the play, so I can peruse that over the weekend. Number three would be my backup, mainly becuase I am not very sure how I would play with number two.

Thoughts? Ideas?

It's impossible to help with this one as we don't know you or the way you act/perform. Maybe ask someone that knows your skills and character?
Brigantine

Are you going for a specific role? I *think* these correlate with roles in the show. #1 sounds more like the daughters, #2 sounds like an eccentric person, so Yente? #3 sounds like a middle aged mother/control freak so ,Golde.
Sounds like they don't really want to take the time to work with acting and character in the show, cast people as close to their real personality as possible for less hassle, or something. d'oh!

I would go for the one with the most potential for interesting choices. That's what I look for in monologues. Monologues where I know where I should pause, where I should move, where I should get quiet. Even a really well-written monologue sucks if you just stand and say it.
