Photoshop PROOFI was looking online at the photo of Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, and then found one of Idina Menzel as Elphaba, and noticed the backgrounds are IDENTICAL, including Fiyero's identical pose etc...Idina:

See! BUT... don't make such a massive deal of it, it's done when they need images for promotional stuff and posters etc when they havent had chance for a pro shot, I've seen it done on other shows too, including Thoroughly Modern Millie! But yep, thats proof alright! |

Yeah, you can see the lighting on Kerry is very different lol!
They might not bother with a new photo shoot until there's more of a change in cast? |

Not that difficult at all, just a bigger pic of Kerry pasted over Idina, and some tiny background bits coloured in, but if you know photoshop, you can see where. |

One is on the current website, one is an old photo on a fan site. The Thoroughly Modern Millie one was the UK Tour, I noticed the photo of the then star was the exact same pose as the photo of Amanda Holden as the star, but with her face instead! |

Bit off topic, but if you're good at photoshop I wondered if you could look at this?

I walked past this poster so many times on the tube questioning this...should've asked earlier!

Id say it looks that way too, her chin looks too sharp, doesnt look like it connects to her neck. |

I'd never have noticed but as soon as TR_Wolf said they'd just plonked Kerry over top, I could see Idina's arm. Or maybe it's just her bag... but I thought that was lower. *shrug*

Les Miz and Phantom have also done this. There's a great example of where they photoshopped Peter Lockyer out of a barricade scene after he'd left the show (and replaced it with background/dry ice), but in the revised version, you can still see his thumb in the crook of Chrstopher Mark Peterson's arm. |

You'd think with they'd pay more attention to these things as (especially with musicals) the poster is often the first piece advertising people come across? Not saying I could do any of it though! 
I'm gonna be looking out for these things now - I get plenty of time on tube stations and escalators to study the images

Have you noticed the lighting on the guy behind Elphi is diff to in Kelly's pic... Infact the lighting is a lot brighter in Kelly's pic than Idina's!!! | ||||||

ermm... you mean Kerry?... the lighting is no different, it's EXACTLY the same. all they've done is slightly brightened the contrast in the photo so then Kerry doesn't look too different, her having brighter lighting put on her when she obviously had her photograph taken seperately. oh, and Kerry's photo appearing as a closer shot somewhat gives a distorted view as well, but it's really no different. same old shot with just Kerry slipped in. Almost every photo of a performer in a show is being photoshopped. All of the wireless Mics are removed for some reason....Personally I donīt mind if they would keep them in....but Iīm strange | ||||||
