Phantom of the Rock Opera?

This is something I wanted to try for a long time. I may even get to do it in the future.

Do a rock version of the main songs from Phantom. Calling it PHANTOM OF THE ROCK OPERA. You know, a coverrecord, but rearranging the songs.

I'm recording demos as we speak.

I wonder of ALW would give his permission?

I'm just doing this for fun, right now. So don't hate the idea.

Andy.
Fantine

I highly doubt he would give his permission.
Megan the Phantom Girlie

He might. That was actually the original idea for the show itself.
Pounce

But you can't even license the regular PotO yet let alone do a rock reinterpretation. But as for myself, I like the idea.

Thanks for the replies!

Can anyone send me POTO midi files? Or, at leat direct me to some?
I'm looking for the main songs:
OVERTURE/PROLOGUE
THINK OF ME
ANGEL OF MUSIC/THE MIRROR
TITLE TRACK
I HAVE BROUGHT YOU/MUSIC OF THE NIGHT
ALL I ASK OF YOU
I GAVE YOU MY MUSIC
WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN
POINT OF NO RETURN
THE PHANTOM'S LAIR/FINALE

Thanks in advance
Andy.

Maybe you should talk to the guy who's working on Jekyll & Hyde: Resurrection. You (and your ideas) sound just as cracked out.

I'm only ding this for fun for crying out loud! It's not like it'll see the light of day or anything...

Sheeeeesh!

Good to know.
Fantine

Furthermore, wouldn't you classify some of the songs as "Rock" already? The title song for example?
Bex

oh come on TVAW...give the guy a break. Tis only a bit of fun...and if it's never gonna see the light of day, why...where's the harm (i'd lov to hear some samples though when your done!)
jcstar

Thank you for your kind words of encouragment!

When it's done (and I have found the files, thanks), I will send you the link.

Talk about being jaded. *snicker*

Andy.
Bex

dude...i dont think you ment 'snicker' thats a kind of chocolate-like snack...'snigger' maybe?
norayouadora

Nah, "snicker" and "snigger" mean roughly the same thing.

I'd love to hear your Phantom of the Rock Opera... A lot of the music is already rock, anyways, so I think it would be a pretty smooth transition. Cool

As long as it's not techno. I heard a techno/DDR version of "The Phantom of the Opera" and it was just plain wrong. Shocked Hehe.
TR_Wolf

Well..

Well they did The Phantom of the Country Opera...

I think this would be very interesting to hear! And why not?It would be a very cool project and even if it did never see the light of day, I think it could still be incredible.

Why, thank you very much! Thatr's really appriciated.

Recording sessions should start next summer. I'm also thinking of making a couple of music videos to go with the material.

I think its amazing... how many of you guys saying the Phantom is already rock and roll. I mean the title song, does lean towards more of a Rocking tune...but thats all I can think of. The single of Phantom, is crazy. With all the guitars and Steve Harley yelling like a mad man. Phantom of the Opera, is not rock and roll and should never be treated as such. I think though somebody giving a lift to the score, will actually make it less boring... I am sorry the score bores me.
