Phantom of the Opera rights given out!

The rights to Phantom have been released... but only to 13 schools hand-selected by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Supposedly only 13 schools got the rights because Webber wanted to see how these schools went about doing them so he could judge whether or not the public is ready to perform Phantom yet.

what schools and where did you find this out? What source?

Colleges. One of them was Baldwin Wallace in Ohio. Apparently it went quite well there and at another school elsewhere in the US. I doubt he'll be so stingy with it that he'll turn down the potential flow of royalties. It won't be long...

I am hoping! That would be a sick show to end with next year for my senior year. I've only seen it once... but I LOVE it!

I was afraid it was the colleges that he was referring to, which I think there is already a thread on. I hoped it might be something new and about schools getting the rights out now or on a set date, not in the unknown future.

There are High Schools that have been given the rights as well. Fairfield High School outside Cincinnati, Ohio completed their run of Phantom of the Opera last month.

This school was said to have been hand picked because of it's successful production of Webber's Starlight Express two years ago.

I believe Elon College did it recently in my area.

Wow! I was under the inital impression that only a few colleges were given the rights. Who knows, maybe I'll get to do it soon someday.

Thanks for the link!

Hmm... not to sound rude, but isn't this old news? I'm almost 100% sure that I heard about this over a year ago! Question
