Phantom differences (novel to musical)It's been years since I've read the novel. I'm just curious as to how different or similar the Phantom is in the book as to the films/musicals.
Discuss...

Generally it depends on which musical or movie. For stage musicals, I'd say that Tom Alonso's version of the Phantom of the Opera is very similar to the novel, where as ALW's stage musical and movie differ greatly from it...
For movies most stray far from it.
And what ever happened to that lovable Persian!? He disappeared after the 1925 version! *sheds a tear for the Persian*

At least someone agrees with moi! But its The Daroga. Since Daroga is not his name but his title...

Madame Giry is also an usher and the chandlier was dropped and killed her replacement.
The Phantom was also disfigured differently, but I suppose it would be rather difficult to find an actor missing a nose.

Actually, she was in the Ken Hill version (though she served more of the kind of role Meg Giry does in ALW's).

Oh indeed. Except she has a slightly larger role than Meg did in Webber's. I love her in Hill's. The Persian made it in there as well. But Raoul was Richard's son which was different.
